I'm heading out thru the crunchy ice/snow. Saw a few today digging and that was all the motivation I needed. I'll be house hunting for does. Monday I'll make the trek a mile back to see if the three bucks are still passing thru. This cruchy ice pack sux

I was checking a spot today... if you don't have snowshoes... put all of your hunting gear/clothing in a backpack and hike in with shorts and a t-shirt... one hell of a workout if your stand is over 2-3 hundred yards in. I was sweating my butt off going in about a 1/4 of a mile without snowshoes.

my zone is closed. gonna head in late morning. pull my ground blind, may or may not pull my camera. backtrack some areas, scout for next season, look for shed antlers.
debating on taking my 20ga and thinning the local squirrel population. :D

i used a pair of snow shoes today that i borrowed from a friend and they work nice to walk and not get all hot but on this ice they make so much sound any deer that where out there where gone long b4 i got their.
i have a 1/4 mile hike too it sucks in this snow, but if the deer are moving guess i am too or at least till the end of the season.

i went out yesterday for the afternoon and was in the stand for about 30 min when my wife called and said we have to get our taxes done[down][down][down]

gonna go back out tomorrow afternoon after work

I have zone 8 permit just don't know any spots there, my friends tagged out there wile I was bow hunting zone 3. Would like to shoot the gun there if anyone knows of a spot to hunt there. And I still have 100lbs of corn left.

I plan on going out tomorrow but I am definately bringing a sled with me this time.
I tagged one last weekend about a 1/4 to a half mile in and it took me 45 min or more to drag that thing out. It was one hell of a work out stomping through the foot or more of snow up and down hills and having the deer bounce in and out of your tracks.

My last day was last Saturday. My zone is open til mid feb but that walk in 15 inches of snow sucked. Dragging a deer up hill for over 1/2 mile would definite be horrible. We cut it two weeks early this year.

I'm gonna be in my tree at 3pm tomorrow[hihi]...they've been showin up between 4-4:45....my walk in is short[up] and they're all hungry so[smoke]....good luck tomorrow!!!

well i am out now. but i have a feeling nothings coming. i dropped corn 2 days ago and then again yesterday and none of it has been touched. maybe with this storm coming in then will come looking for food.

Got my first deer of the season tonight. Offhand from 50 yards thru the heart. Small doe. Not a prego. I saw tons of deer.....maybe 50. Public land.

Been too busy with work to hunt much.

Postholing thru breakable 18 inches of crust for 1/2 mile was hard. The deer slide really nicely on the ice.
