my dad moved to nj a few years ago. he no longer has a permit in the state he came from. he wants to buy a shotgun and come bird hunting with me this year. im reading some posts here that mention employment my dad is 73 and retired. will itbe more difficult for him?

Just make sure that you abide by the statutory exemptions to N.J.S.A. "Unlawful Possession of Weapons" (listed under 2C:39-6) regarding where, how, & for how long legal "transfers" can be made for the purposes of hunting.
