Don't hold your breath.Corswine has that money already earmarked for the Anti Bear Hunt campaign

lots of guys last year gloating about how GREAT Jersey is,well break out your wallet again, this time it's getting even worse
Look at it this way, once hunting is banned in NJ, think of all the money you'll save. [confusedagain]

For the first time in I don't remember when, I won't be buying an extended bow permit, no extra buck tag either. I think I am going to spend my weekends pheasant hunting in November and deer hunting in NY state. It is the best season to bow hunt but I don't have enough spare time to justify the 56 bucks. If you are going to hunt permit bow, then you have to get the buck tag, peak rut is on in this season and you would be severly handicapping yourself to be out there without a buck tag. My opinion ofcourse...

No not realy those will be dedicated funds going to the Div. of F+W (They maybe forced to waste much of it acting as Taxi drivers for overly protected bears but not all of it will go down the drain).

$56.00 = hotzitotzi dinner for two or home made venison dinner for 30 your choice. Throw in a couple of the best weeks to be in the woods IMO (last week Oct First week Nov.) and I can live with it.

Couple that with not having to deal with EAB and one way or another the very REAL possibility that this maybe the LAST Quality permit bowseason NJ has and nothing short of a broken leg will keep me from being out there.

Great way to put it in persepective.[up]

Jakesbeard makes great points, I was actually not going to get one this year long before I heard about the 56 buck thing.. I know if I get one I won't pheasant hunt and I really miss it. Just trying to mix up my time alittle.

Buff,
If "You can't eat the horns" than that season will ONLY cost you $28-!

Don't buy the buck tag and MY bet is you will for sure see the buck of your lifetime @ 10 yards!
And that will be a real test to see if "Horns" have as little importance to you as your sig. sugests.[hihi]
Hey my wife and I both have good jobs I do not drink gamble or "Fool around" behind her back so in essance $56 is NBD

If you are going to buy any of the new optional buck tags, it would make sense to buy it during the rut. OTOH, it is a time when there are many other game opportunities (turkeys, waterfowl, pheasants) as well. I will probably buy that one, but not get one for the winter shotgun season. There is always a possibility that I will see, "a buck of a lifetime," but that is ok. NJ has a 5 1/2 month season, and if I have no buck tag for 25% of it, that is still plenty.

its getting so that the average blue collar guy wont be able to afford to hunt in NJ, but i do agree \that if u dont buy the buck tag you will guarantee yourself that the buck of a lifetime will walk right by your tree[smirk],,,,so pay we must

then again if i get lucky in early bow, i switch to pheasant and skip extended bow, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed

Don't you guys see what the state is doing: We all know Corzine hates hunters and hunting, but he also understands we give a great deal of money back, hunting is big business even in NJ. So he did the next best thing in his eyes, hit us in the wallet once more, he can't beat us by stopping hunting, but he can try to slow it down by forcing us to shell out more money knowing how expensive it is to live in NJ, and that every penny counts to support your family. Typical "PAY TO PLAY" NJ backyard BBQ....Don't be sold on the BS that the fees increased cause Fish & Game is hurting for funds, we know they are, but these increase fees aren't to support them, they are to support so called other projects here in NJ, we are the ones paying for it
