My buddy Tim and I have been through a lot together over the last 30 years. He never showed any interest in hunting until 2 years ago. We got skunked last year with only a day and a half to hunt and the year before wasn't possible because my son Cole was born opening week of 6 day. We got in around 5:45 a.m. and sat quiet. Tim had only 2 hours sleep the night before and started to doze off in his chair. Glassing the area some movement caught my eye behind a blow down. "Tim... deer....Tim ....DEEER." He woke up, raised the H&R and waited for a broadside shot, just like we discussed. As soon as the buck presented a good shot, I told him to shoot when ready. While watching through binoculars, the gun went boom and the deer went down. He was pumped an I was so happy for him. He's hooked and is gonna bowhunt come next year. Yes, it's a spike, but it wouldn't make a difference if this was a doe, button or a 10pt P&Y . Congrats Tim.
