Hey folks! There are a few places I frequent in the area like Ramapo Lake, Scarlett Oak Lake (same area) and a place up in Oakland.

I was wondering if you guys were familiar with any more spots in Bergen? I hear that you can fish in the Oradell reservoir with a special permit you can aquire for $25 a year, but whenever I drive by (Harrington Park, Woodcliff Lake, Oradell, etc.) The entire area is fenced in! If I were to get this permit, where would I fish?

Do you guys know of any other lakes/ponds in Bergen to fish at? Thanks

Go to http://www.unitedwater.com/uwny/pdfs/UW_WatershedGuide.pdf

Or you can go to the HQ over in Harrington Park off Old Hook. Fishing is pretty good in the areas not pounded so try to walk little. However, certain areas are not fishable and of course that's where the best fishing is[up].

I have fished a county park in Westwood called Brookdale which is decent for bass. Ramapo is good as is the Saddle River. Also, Ringwood SP in Passaic County bordering Mahwah has lots of places.

I've been fishing the Oradell Res on and off since I was a kid (30 years). I do it because it's VERY convenient to where I live but I don't consider the b [no swearing please] fishing to be very good. Bobm - interested to know about your experience up there and what you have found that makes it "pretty good" Got any special secret that works up there?

There are several parking areas and access gates located between Oradell, Woodcliff Lake and Lake Tappan (I think). In Oradell, I've found that the b [no swearing please] fishing picks up to "decent" in the fall but spring and summer are not good. Seem's like alot of people I see are fishing way out in the deeper water for catfish - so if that's what you are into that might be worth it.

There are big fish there but the place gets pounded continously. Some nice carp too. I don't seem to catch much. Been out 3 times this year and have one b [no swearing please] and one snapping turtle to my count. YMMV.

Other than what's been mentioned, I don't know too many other areas in Bergen except for some streams and rivers.

Been meaning to try those ponds in the brushwood area of Ringwood. I've mountain biked up there alot but never fished them. They used to allow you to get a special permit to drive the car up there for hunting and fishing. Need a 4wd though and I think it costs a few bucks.

I fish Whites Pond in Waldwick, mostly for trout but there are some good b [no swearing please] in there. The pond in Campgaw has some good b [no swearing please] in there also. I have heard the non-swimming pond in Darlington Park has some nice b [no swearing please] (large and smallies). Used to fish the Wild Duck Pond in Ridgewood for catfish. Try the Lily Pond in Franklin Lakes (but fish from the Oakland side, thats where the parking is). Nice b [no swearing please] in there. Plus I have some private holes in Franklin Lakes, that have nice bass, perch, crappie, pickerel.

Can you share what kind of lure you use to catch bass up there ?
