This is for Liv2Hunt, since his post got deleted for no reason.

Anyone Score On a P&Y or B&C here in the Garden State?

I never did, I did hunt the same buck for 3 years with only seeing him once at 20 yards, no clear shot. He was a 16 pointer with a droptine, dark antlers. My friend Scott found both sides of his rack the morning before the 3' snow storm hit us all back in what I think was 1997. One side weighed in at 4lbs. the other side was 4-1/2lbs., it was scored at roughly 165". Scott got it mounted on a plaque, and now it sits in the back room at Targeteers. I will get a picture of it posted the next time I goto the shop. I hit a buck on 11-17-2001 that would be over 140", but I never did find him, we searched for hours the next day[down]

Gloucester County New Jersey 1987 bow kill,134" gross,131" net 8 pointer P&Y.Should have been a 10 pointer about 145" but had NO brow tines.Dressed 205 lbs,so it made the NJ 200 lb club for archery and typical archery category & Pope & Young club too.

Missed about a 140" about 7 years ago in Burlington Co.Still waiting for another chance at a big one.

Hunterdon county 2003 129-0/8 net killed with a longbow @12 paces and is in the book. 134 3/8 gross.
MANY other deals I did not close and other bucks that made me say "Wow thats all, your tape must be short!"[hihi]

Pope and Young....Have to be a minimum of 125

A typical will measure 125" after deductions must be taken by the rules of fair chase which basicaly boil down toyour state or provance game laws.
The Pope and Young club was started back in the 60's by Glen St. Charles and friends in an effort to prove to game depts and doubtful gun only hunters that a bow and arrow can take the largest of north american big game quickly and cleanly.
Each animal must be "Officaly measured" by a P+Y certified measurer and a "Fairchase afidavide" signed and whitnessed along with a killsite photo and photos of the rack from several differant angles.

Here is their website I sugest you go there and read up there is far more to P+Y than just "Big Horns".

Here is a quote from their "Fairchase statement" it says a lot and IMO is a very good standard to live and hunt by.

"From its beginnings, the Club has grown to epitomize fair chase and sportsmanship in hunting. This fair chase philosophy reaches to the very foundations of the hunting spirit; it remains a dominant factor in the personal hunting ethic of every responsible individual; it is key to bowhunting's future with deep roots in America's hunting heritage. Simply defined, fair chase is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit of free-ranging wild game animals in a manner which does not give the hunter an improper or unfair advantage over the animal. It does, however, extend beyond the hunt itself; it is an attitude and a way of life based in a deep-seated respect for wildlife, for the environment, and for other individuals who share the bounty of this vast continent's natural resources."

I did but JB told me it doesn't count because I recovered it late...Oh well, have to shoot a bigger one with the crossbow in 08'...

Wait, it doesnt count because you recovered it late?? Oh yea that makes sense..

dont forget to bait up real good before you go out with the bolt gun...:D

I can't resist any longer.:D........ I think we should be asking the inmates if anyone has scored a "BHC", not the hunters on this board (check your title, should be B & C, not BHC, unless you woke up one morning really want to know who "scored" on you the night before). [rofl][rofl] :D

Nice deer for the rest of you guys. [up]

JJoe,
If your going to put your cheap excuses on me at least you could QUOTE what I said and not be a punk about it.
I ASKED A QUESTION, BAITED AS IT WAS BUT YOU CHOSE TO TAKE IT.
You never answerd a PM or sent one you chose the cheap way out by pulling the thread and that shows MANY a lot about your charactor.
