It's actually a pretty bad thing when you no longer find the hunting expierience [ on WMA's] enjoyable anymore and more often then not , leave stressed out when you are suppose to be enjoying yourself. Got up 5am this morn drove to my favorite field, no one else there and wait. Half hour later a couple guys show up co-ordinate a drive w me and line up just before shooting time . The field was a 200yds x 80yds retangle. 5 minutes before legal time ,a half dozen people come flying up the road, screech to a halt and cram in any which way and just run amuck in front of everyone else that's lined up.[mad] No consideration whatso-ever. A couple guys just put thier guns away and went home because they were all disgusted. It's like opening day everyday anymore with guys 5yds apart elbow to elbow. Last week, my buddy told my that guys were actually fighting in the road because of it.[sad][down]
The problem lies in that because there are newer houses along the boarders of the WMA [besides the fact that the hunter to area ratio is way out of proportion], the birds are stocked further in the WMA at the same select spots every week and you get 15 guys at a time, all making a mad dash to a field that may reasonable should only hunt 6 people comfortable and safely . I wish the F&G volunteers would mix it up and randonly pick a different spot each stocking day and put them further in the woods to scatter the birds around instead of concentrating them in the same each day 6 hot spots that get overloaded with people .
I am at the point to just hang up hunting small game on public land and just save my money to hunt a private preserve a couple times a year until I can afford a few acres in the sticks to stock my own hunts w family and friends .
