FINALLY...
It's been a rough season for me fellas, but I finally came through on a decent 6. Of course I'd like to have a bigger rack, but beggars can't be choosey. Yesterday afternoon, I had nothing but bucks around me from 3:30 on, in all probably saw 8-10 different bucks. I had this one HUGE body deer with only a half rack that was only 2 points. The funny thing was, he was running off every buck that came in the piece of woods that I was hunting. He must have "diverted" 4 different bucks. There wasn't any fighting, he would just walk over to the bucks and they would head the other way. Anyway, around 4, I had a real nice 8 ptr sitting broadside at 24 yards, I draw back on the Switchback, set the pin on him, he doesn't hear me draw, I let it fly....right over his back [sad]
Of course he backs away (doesn't run away)...about ten minutes later, a 9 ptr comes in towards the buck that was running them all away and the big boy runs the 9 ptr right towards my stand. He stops 16 (yes, I said SIXTEEN) yards perfect broadside shot right in front of me. Again, I draw back undetected, set the pin right behind his shoulder, and let it fly...right over his back [sad][sad]
So now my night is over right? Well luckily no...I'd say not 15 minutes later, this guy came flying in the woods after I hit my MAD calls Growler (I didn't growl, just normal grunting), he was walking at a decent pace when he crossed my path at 20 yards. I let out a "maaaa", he stopped, I aimed just BELOW his belly this time. He was quartering towards me a little and this time I was on the money. P [no swearing please] through from the front and exited the back. He went about 100 and piled up...Now I can take a few weekends off to get the TC Encore sighted in for the end of the month:D:D:D

Nice job Gonoles[up] any pics?

tell me about it...I shot 10 arrows today at 20 and 30 yards and was perfect...I posted earlier this year that I was having trouble shooting high out of my stand...I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong[sad]

Are you bending at the waist when you shoot out of your stand, or just lowering your bow arm? If you're not bending at the waist, that's the problem.

Congrats on your deer.

Schues...I've been told that countless times and I try to remember to do it (bend at the waist)...When I do remember, it feels sooooo weird doin...I guess its something I just have to practice in the backyard some more...thanks for the tip...

Congrats.

Like Schues said, bend at the waist.

Think of your upper body as a "T".

To shoot the same all the time, your two shoulders need to remain the same low, relaxed level no matter how high or low you're aiming.

Does that make sense?

Have a good one---Matt:)

thanks Matty, I appreciate it...

btw...anybody take their deer over to Ely's Pork Products in PA? I was over there late last night and man you should have seen the bucks they had in there!!! Holy cow, I can only assume it's gun week in PA?

I got his new shredded BBQ, and snack sticks with cheese...the bbq is awesome, he had at the bowhunters jamboree at the Sportsmen's Center in August...A bit pricey, but I'm splitting it someone ($135)

you gotta take into account the angle you are shooting from! If you use a range finder without the ARC compensation and he is 20 yards direct sight with the finder you are actually going to have to shoot a bit different for the compensation of the angle that your stand height causes! I luckly have the Leuopld RXII range finder and it does the math for me so I never have to guess! I put out our decoy at 20 and 30 "ranged with my finder" and shoot dead on with my pins on the exact yardage!

Nice job a very healthy looking deer[up]
