ye pete i was up there yesterday and seen a few but no herds ,and there are Paterson cops hunting them ,how do i know ?i spoke with one on sunday that told me they do [wallmad]

Why would they risk being arrested and possibly losing there job over a deer? Seems foolish to me.
very foolish ,what was more funny is that he actually stopped to talk to me at a dinner on sunday when he seen me in my camo,it was a rookie that had no idea that it was even illegal and he just wanted to see how i did and wanted to get into bow hunting after few minutes talking to this cool cop,he starts telling me about how his cop friends hunt there [hihi][wallmad] i should have asked him for a pba card [hihi][wallmad][smoke]i might need one if one of them reads this [wallmad]

are they using guns or bows? I'm used to hearing shooting from the sheriffs dept. range but the past week I would hear only a single gun shot now and then, and always after dusk. When the Leo's shoot it's always more than a few rounds and usually during the daylight hours.[confused]

I highly doubt a LEO would risk his job to hunt Garrett Mountain. Big bucks yes but not worth losing a job in this economy. With an offense like that they would have a hard time getting a job as a LEO anywhere. This is a bit far fetched.

crap im not saying anymore ,before i start getting tickets at every corner[confusedagain]

I used to sneak into the reservoir through a hole in the fence back in those woods but that was when I was under 18.
ye i fished that few times when i was young except it was practically my back yard back then :p

This is a bit far fetched.
you are correct but i know he was not lying.
anyway i would like to say i love all cops and the great work they do ,that should get me some free time just incase im running late to my hunting spot and doing 80

I certainly don't know anything of any LEO hunting there but it's hunted and has been hunted for years. More so since pictures of the deer there have been put on the net. I live in town and hear of and have seen nice bucks not recovered from being shot with arrows.Ran into Bait piles, Camera's and tree stands. Last year I watched for weeks, a good 8 survive a non fatal hit. Guys do get caught yearly. This past spring a guy was popped for turkey hunting!

i live next town over and drive through everyday after work. big green ram2500 if you see me say hi. :) saw a bunch yesterday but true not as many on property. now they move to the woods behind my fathers house and little patches here and there. old rifle camp has a lot but many leo's live over there i'm told and is often patroled by sheriffs.

I noticed quite a few suvs and pickups parked by the quarry yard office on opening day, Saturday, off Valley Rd. on the Clifton side. This might be private land and okay to hunt for all I know. I'm sure there's lots of poaching all around, it's too tempting for a lot of people I suppose. Backyard bucks are all over the place. If I didn't wear my halo so tight I'd have a freezer full already and without using a drop of gas, but that's not for me.
