I prefer to call them a "Choice" (To overwhelm and take over time a field that once belonged to others who readily shared if one was willing to step UP to a standard).
Crossbow is one of those icky words VERY similar to other words we no longer use in many applications today (See War, Terrorist, Freedom and U.S. constitution for other examples of things who’s meanings have been or are currently being undermined and termed nongrata in today’s Newspeak) While using newspeak the implement in question will officially be termed a bow but in short time what had been termed “The bowseason will be renamed to the more proper and generic “Early deer season”.
