They also thought the e-pirb may have gotten caught in the riggings as well.
The 2 that were recovered dead were brothers and were the owner's sons. One of them couldn't swim. This is speculation but it is from the coastguard and family members. They believe the 2 brothers jumped over and one of them was holding the e-pirb trying to make it to the life raft. The delay in the e-pirb going off could be due to him holding it out of the water. Once they got to the raft he threw the e-pirb in the raft and tried getting his brother (who couldn't swim) into the raft and wound up drowning doing so. The one who couldn't swim was a big boy. The other brother was in great shape and probably could have saved himself. Very sad story.

And a true jerk off comments at the end of the newspaper article ...
from one who has worked on the docks at the lobster house i have firsthand knowledge that most of all thes boats are not properly maintained ,inspected an most not even insured the way they should be. they make all this money an so do the owners of these boats [as the article above suggests] BUT they do not run them like a proper bussiness.an not to mention there is tremendous drug an alchol abuse by the workers on these boats. so you know ...***** HAPPENS AN DEAL WITH IT . I HAVE NO PITY FOR ANY OF THEM .
