Does Anyone have any experience with applying for an FID card in Mt Olive? I live in Flanders and submitted my application along with my fingerprints end of November and still no FID. Both my references received , completed and returned the surveys, though nothing yet. I left a msg a week ago with Lt. Mazur responsible for processing and have not heard back - What is my next step.

I live in Flanders and had gotten my FID many years ago. My neighbor just applied about a week and a half ago and I got his reference request and filled it out and dropped it back off right away.

PM me if you have continued problems, I have a close friend on the force (a Sargent) that should at least be able to get things moving assuming there are no problems. He helped me when I got mine as the former Chief was ill and applications just sat on his desk unsigned.

Thanks - Just an update - made another call to Ptl. Bazur (not Mazur - mis-spelling) today after leazving a message on the 14th. Nothing yet. After that I may start with the Cheif and go from there.

They told me that mine would take about 6 weeks. It actually took about 12. Paperwork got lost in the shuffle :)

Buffalostink:

They have a thier own forms, but it's just a check list of the state forms you need to complete based on what you are applying for , and they ask for your references at the bottom. I used the same references I provided on the state form.

http://www.mopd.org/firearms.html Heres the link to the pdf's they provide

I completed the reference section on the Firearms Application Instructions, the state application and the mental health consent form.

BTW, the state form on question 25 references "outpatient" for any mental condition. I thought was only in-patient at a facility.

Got a call from Ptl. Bazur - he never got the survery from my 2nd reference - our post office has been a little off lately, so I would not be surprised if it got lost. He offered to fax over another copy today. I am going to have my buddy fax it to me as well once he completes it so I have proof. Hopefully, we are close to the end. The chief still needs to sign off, correct?

they used to have a form that actually asked you what you were planning on buying and the next question was for what purpose were you buying it.. State police firearms guy in Trenton said it was illegal form.

This happened to me and the reference was a nearby cop. In those days, Mt. Olive sent the reference letters certified and my buddy didn't bother to pick it up at the post office after the mailman couldn't deliver it. The Mt. Olive police simply faxed a form to him and he faxed it right back. I had my FID a few days later. And yes, our Chief signs the card.

We wasn't only ill, he passed away due to a complication caused by a Dr. while treating cancer.[mad]

That doesn't however excuse why they didn't have the Capt who was Acting Chief, sign the paperwork. That Chief is now retired.
The new Chief is a nice guy. Hunter and all.

The whole FID process is an at the local level. [wallmad] As I read many of you have been given the run around.
I recommend documenting everything during the process IE: dates filled out, when your references receive their questioners and when they returned them and so on
Some of this may stop the run around. I belong to another NJ firearms forum that tracks the process and abuses in NJ towns
PM me if you are interested in more information – I’m not here to hijack your site – just want to learn more about hunting in NJ - Thanks :)
