DiverDan, you are not alone. The toms river PD is both rude and slow. The lady who works the counter is a bitch. Everytime i go in there, i am polite...yes maam, etc...and everytime she is a bitch back to me. She looks at me like i have two heads when i ask for pistol permit apps.

She also tried to lecture me to register all my firearms. She told me that i should register all my guns so if someone breaks into my house, steals my guns, commits a murder that i would be held responsible.

Dan im sorry if I came off negative, I feel your pain and it sucks that you have to go through that. IT was more of me being aggravated towards the system that I was trying to say. Pat dont even get me started on those incompitants. The desk SGT gave me the wrong paperwork to get a change of address and didnt give me proper instructions. When I came back a blonde haired woman officer helped me and was very kind. I had to leave to get a money order, when I returned records was closed and the other male officer wouldnt even let me speak as soon as he saw my papers "you need to come back when records is here" I said sir everything is completed can you give this to them? "I dont know if you filled out everything right" "Yes I did your officer already checked it I just had to get a money order" "I wouldnt want to screw it up". I went back when records was open and a dark haired woman was also helpful. We will see how long the process takes. My mother works for berkeley PD Detective BEA and that is the issuing town so I will know when TR calls over for my records. Im guessing it will take 4 months, TR gave me copies of the application to fill out because they were out of carbon copy applications...that is a bad sign.

I use sp barracks in hope.. 4-6 months for any transaction. My wife walks in and gets 6 handgun permits and a change address on her ID card in less than 2 weeks.. Maybe you should try a lower cut shirt:D

Vin, you did not come of negative, but just as you said. I was not directing toward you, more toward the system as well.

I think this should be part of a sportsmans checklist if they plan to move within this state...

Taxes how much??
How is the school system??
How long does it take to get firearm paper work processed??

Well, still waiting. Have been trying to call each day this week. Each day I get the same response when I ask for the Firearms Coordinator "he is in tomorrow from 6am to 6 pm". Well, thats funny, I have called every day for 4 days with the same response!! Who do you escalate to when it is a State Police Barracks? There is no Chief, is there a head guy?

Try calling HQ in Trenton 609-882-2000, ask for a "complaint-compliment form" be sent to you. List all the calls you made, who answered, what they told you and how crummy the service is. Maybe go as far as saying you are being lied to, if you feel thats the case. Good luck Dan, i'll say a prayer for you tonight!!

Well the saga continues. Seems that Trooper Clarke is no longer doing the Firearms at the Washington SP. A trooper Prudah (sp) is now in charge, and according to him "I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't tell you anything". He was trying hard to get me off the phone when I asked him for the exact timeline on my permit applications. I got the following:

I submitted the end of November.

He said they got it Mid December...?

I know I spoke to Prudah early Jan. about references and a work contact.

I spoke with Clarke 2 weeks later (mid Jan) when Clarke said he did not have my prints, and I corrected him that he did not need them...again...

Supposedly was sent to Trenton at the end of Jan.


Well, hopefully soon....I keep buying rifles in the mean time....which are harder to hide from the wife...

yeah these kind of stories are ridiculous. Knock on wood, in Bridgewater iv never had any problem. Everything was in timely matter. I know someone who just got thier FID, only took about 2-3 months. I think its only a matter of the individual themself in charge of the taking the apps on whether it gets done in a timely matter or not.

When I dropped off FID and 2 permit apps at Perryville SP just before the election, the trooper quoted me 8 weeks. Got call that they were in 84 days(12 weeks)later. Not sure how long they waited to call --- they were dated 11 days earlier.

So they basically sat on it for 3 months. Amazing...
