They are not native
Brook trout are native to NJ. If you are referring to the Pequest stock (Nashua strain) then you would be correct. But brookies are the only native trout to NJ waters. The TIC program raises brookies from eggs from the Pequest hatchery and not eggs from "Heritage strain" brook trout which do exist in some of our waters.

Right now i have the 2 bass in a 55 gallon tank. They are tough fish and hard to kill. The bass were the first fish i put into my pond and I have had more then 10 koi that i have put in also. All the koi died and the bass just got stronger. They even ate one or two of the koi. I will take a pic of my tank that the bass are in now. You don't need anything special to keep them in a tank.

i've had fish for quite a few years (cichlids). successfull fish keeping is truly all about water parameters; hardness, softness, PH, GH, KH & temp. you'd have to match the lakes/ponds water in your aquarium. i've seen LM kept in a 180 gallon aquarium along with panfish n such so it can be done. a 20 gallon tank will definately not be sufficient unless it was fry sized fish. if you just toss a LM in a tank filled with untreated tap water its not going to last too long.

I had a pet bass. 18 incher I caught. I put it in a 50 gallon tank and fed it night crawlers. guppies and shiners aren't good food because they chase em and bang into the sides of the tank. My bass lived in there almost a year.

thats what i always thought. they only get as big as the tank is haha its not like he was trying to sell me one of his 400 dollar tanks because he was telling me to look on craigslist hah

No need to wait for the thaw. Get one through the ice! In fact I'll be doing that later this morning down at Davidson's Mill Pond in North Brunswick. You can get plenty of bass and pickeral on a tipup!!! My buddy used to have 2 Crappies in a tank. They were really neat to watch.

When I was a kid I would catch small fish from the lake and keep them in a 10 gallon tank and over the course of a few years I had redbrest sunfish, shiners, yellow perch, crappie, and bullheads along with snails ,crayfishand little baby turtles in that tank at one point or another. But by far my favorite where rock bass, they kinda looked like little oscars with big red eyes and would eat any thing I put in there that would fit in their mouths.

Not sure how legal it is now to keep panfish that have no size limit in a fish tank. But even back then I knew it probably wasn't legal to keep under sized bass in a tank. But now that I see that you can buy them at a hatchery like ringneck did it makes me want to get a 50 gallon tank and get a couple!
