I hope they clarify the downward angle deal. It seems like like someone might get in an argument with a warden cause they shot a deer while they were standing on a bucket. I'm gonna buy some drywall stilts:p But on a serious note i'm really excited I hope this thing passes[up]

I have read this bill over and over. I think from 150+ you are good to go. Inside of 150 you will need the written permission.

(2) No person, except the owner or lessee of the building and persons specifically authorized by him in writing, which writing shall be in the person’s possession, shall, for the purpose of hunting, taking or killing any wildlife, have in his possession a nocked arrow while within 150 feet of any occupied building in this State, or within 450 feet of any school playground.

STATEMENT

This bill would amend current law to provide that no person, except the owner or lessee of the building and persons specifically authorized by the owner or lessee in writing shall, for the purpose of hunting, taking or killing any wildlife, have in the person’s possession a nocked arrow while within 150 feet of any occupied 16 building in this State, or within 450 feet of any school playground.

Current law provides that no person shall, for the purpose of
hunting, taking or killing any wildlife, have in the person’s possession a loaded firearm or nocked arrow while within 450 feet of any occupied building in this State, or of any school playground.

i wonder how long it will be before it applies to firearms too.
From what I know the legislators are educated in the short range of a bow vs the long range of a gun. This will never apply to the gun seasons. Legislators have said that Sunday Bowhunting needs to get it's foot in the door, before they could ever consider Sunday Hunting, but many gun hunters A) don't want bowhunters shooting more deer. or B) won't support Sunday Bowhunting unless gun hunting is included. C) or the deer need a day of rest, what kind of a moron thinks that???

BestNJBirddogs nails it.

I think you're misreading things. This bill reduces the safety zone for bowhunting and opens up more land for the citizens of NJ to use. In the past you could not hunt within 450' of a building without first gaining permission from the building's owner. If this bill becomes law, the safety zone for bowhunting changes to 150'. So then you would be able to hunt 151' away from a building and not need permission from the owner.

Over the years it has become apparent to me that one of the largest groups of antibowhunters in this state is the NJSFSC in my opinion they are neck and neck with the NJ Chapter of the Sierra club and far more effective in getting negitive things in place that impinge upon the bowseasons and for many their hate of bowhunters is equal to that of NJSC.

Cripple shot that was an excellent illustration fantastically done![up]

Perkintown hunter I meant.

jakesbeard,huntwithhonor,
i'm sorry that gun hunter groups feel that way. dad and i myself do not feel that bowhunters are a threat to us. we are not members as far as i know of any groups that support gun hunting only. as far as sunday hunting. it would be great if the bill gets passed, whether its bow only or gun and bow. it adds one more day that you can go.

we love hunting and fishing. we just have not bow hunted in awhile. we still can. all i would have to do is buy my license. he gets the all around license every year.

rem870hunter,
It's not all but it is enough and they are organised to the point were they have had a negitive impact over the years and the Federation and Fish and Game council are set up so their voice is heard over that of ANY bowhunting groups or individuals.
