When I was younger I hunted with my Dad and his brothers plus a couple of their friends. Slowly they all stopped hunting and we lost the private property we hunted.

Now I hunt alone, out behind my in-laws house. It is about 10 acres that borders a much larger woods that I do not have permision to hunt. So I really am the only one that can hunt in there.

Things I miss about haveing someone to hunt with is someone to talk with at the breakfast/lunch table about what they saw that day, or where we should set up for the afternoon hunt.

One of my good friends belongs to a hunting club, and I usually get a guest pass for 1 day during bow season, or extended gun. Now that my boys are getting older (5 and 3), I think I will have to join his club full time. It is just more expensive then I would like.

I want to take the 5 year old out small gaming for a bit this weekend, but really do not have a good spot for it. One of my buddies from High School has some property off of 31 by whitehouse. I hope to take him out there. I would not feel really comfortable taking him onto public land during small game season, especailly on a Saturday.

I used to hunt with a friend all the time. I eventually got sick of his slob hunting ways[down] we are still good friends, but do not hunt together. My other hunting partner is my Dad, but I loose him more and more every year. He has only been out 3 times so far this year, and hasent shot anything yet. He is getting older, and just doesnt plan ahead enough to go hunting.

Jackson bucks I sent you a pm....

I do both. But I am starting to perfer hunting alone. I don't have worry about other peoples scent, being on time, leaving early, being quiet etc.. But I do enjoy my time with my friends inthe woods when it does happen.

I gotta go alone now... i lost my best friend and hunting buddy from west milford in a car accident where he was the passenger of a drunk driving accident on sept 5th...... R.I.P JJ DeRaffele.... this year hunting season has not been the same.. i have only been out twice just due to fact its not the same and hurts.... i have Ny rifle coming up and have 15 guys in the club hunting with me... i love just being around the guys for a week....

I love hunting by myself. My wife hates when I go on my own though she wants to know everything. What stand I'm in, text message when I get up safely text message when I get down safely ..... Hunting with companions is definitely more fun but i"d say hunting on your own with the bow is more relaxing and therapeutic. I'm a loner I enjoy taking to the woods for peace and quiet and to retreat from the noise and rutkus of the world. Not many of my friends can keep up with my hunting habits though as many of them are also married.

How many of you guys hunt alone and do you think its takes a little away?

"I hunt alone. I admit it is more fun when you have a friend or someone else out there with you, but far enough away so after the hunt you can talk about what happened and what you saw"

"I've hunted with a partner and alone...both have thier pluses and minuses."
I guess it depends on exactly what you mean when you say "hunting alone". When I deer hunt, I'm usually "alone" even when I go with friend(s). We go together & hunt the same woods, but we're not hunting out of the same stand. So, technically, even though I may be hunting with others - the actually hunting is done solo. It's always fun to compare notes after coming out of the woods or arriving back at camp.

That being said, I will go out alone if no one else is available to go, it beats staying at home! The only time I won't go w/o a partner, is waterfowling on the tidal flats along Delaware Bay...just too dangerous to be out there alone.

I have a couple friends I shared stories with. I have a couple long time friends that hunt, not really with me. Since Mrs Java came along it has been a blast. I have to say we really enjoy having each other to talk to, stalk, shed hunt, plan for stands, compare deer and patterns. It's great and I am blessed

ducati you had a pretty right on time list[up]

keep your enemies close keep your hunting buddies closer[smirk]

huntin with your pals is the way to go...at the farm i hunt i think i will be doin son alone huntin since none of the buddies have permission

i hunted alone for years and this year for the 6 day i been alone my buddy joined a club and hes been hunting club property next year he will be allowed a guest so i stick it out for this year he had 32 deer come by his stand one day and he baged a 8 point so i cant blame him for staying their we have next year
as for hunting alone one time i sliped on the side of a hill and i thaught i was in big trouble my leg was twisted and i couldnt move for a couple of minutes then i managed to strighten my leg and was able to get up and walk out but was still in bad pain a nd the leg hasnt been the same since still have trouble with the knee giveing out or hurting but it passes

I use to hunt with my father all the time he has moved to florida and i have to admit it feels like something is missing when im out there alone. He taught me all i know about hunting and fishing. Its like not having your best buddy there when your doin the thing you love the most.

I hunt most of the time solo but it's fun to get a few others together.

I mostly hunt alone. I do hunt with my brother and father in NY. Most of the time I'm solo. I like being alone but it would be nice to have someone to hunt with once and a while. Right now my buddy is only 5 years old so I'll have to wait. I live in Jackson and wouldn't mind hunting with someone.
