[down]all it does is promote poaching. and what about all the bullshit with pope and young with guys entering crossbow kills who would know the difference? just another way to make up another season to sell more permits in this armpit of a state we live in.

Pa. guys don't whine like you Jersey guys about the crossbow being dangerous? What are you all taking about other than smack.[hihi][hihi]

Who cares what anyone uses? Why do you really care other than starting trouble is the intension with posts like this[rofl][rofl]

What a shame these guys that can't shoot will get xbows. I guess that means fewer wounded deer according to the experts here. Thats terrible. Whats worse is they will shoot the trophy buck on opening day and mess up the rest of the bow season this makes me sick. Then there gonna poach deer and buy more freezers to store the deer, thats just awful and greedy. I thought they were lazy why would they do that. I heard they were selling there guns to buy more bolts. I give up they took our bow season, I didn't see anything, I baited they came at night, and I will never hunt here again. It's terrible here[hihi]Boo hoo [cry][cry][cry][cry][cry] Lots of whining, get off the computer and go hunt crybaby

longbow and compound are similar. You still need to draw back undetected, aim and shoot. Every deer I have shot I was standing up in my stand, even more chances of getting busted. X-bow, sit, LOOK THRU THE SCOPE then pull the trigger. It's comparing apples to oranges.

Xbows....
" Makeing it harder for most of you Dbags to wound deer."

Does anybody think we will have less stories about poor shots? Oh no thats right Drives & 100 yard shots will add up.

First off, the Division recieved a lot of flack over the picture in the Digest showing an improper way to hold a Crossbow.

As far as a separate Hunters Ed class for Crossbows is concerned, I believe the following is what is planned.

New hunters will be tested (written) on the safe handling of Crossbows and Vertical Bows, during their Hunters ED Class. The proper shooting techniques and safe handling of Crossbows will be demonstrated during the field testing.

For current Licensed Bow hunters, Next years digest will have a section devoted to safe handling and use of Crossbows.

NO OTHER STATE that has allowed CrossBOWS has EVERY required Previously licensed Bow hunters to be retested. And likewise, NO OTHER State has experienced an increase in Archery related "accidents" after CrossBOWS were allowed.

They way some of you talk, NJ Hunters must be a bunch of NIT WITS that have NO common sense.

As far as the thumb up in the F&G photo goes, I did that once. Only once [cry]. Yea, it hurt, but I learned a painful lesson. I've had more painful bruises on my forearm from shooting a recurve without an arm guard.

If approved, CrossBOWS are slated for the FALL 2009 Bow seasons. At least that's what I was told by the Division as of last week.

Drop tine, u went from :::i support crossbows in all seasons,,, to i hate them:::::: when did the flip flop happen
Lou, I really wish you keep up buddy [confused] I have been totally against them in the archery season for a very very long time [confused] Don't know where the hell you've been but I do support there use here in the state of new jersey just NOT IN THE archery season, and the reason I say this based on my statement in the earlier post of what I witnessed with a person who had never shot a bow of any kind that put a scope on a crossbow and had it sighted in and killing the bulls eye with every shot in a few simple shots and it was DONE AND READY TO GO [down] That very day I stated on this site that my opinions has changed and I no longer support there use in a archery season since I have witnessed that they require absolutely no skill to use just point and pull the trigger so they are clearly as easy to use as a GUN and should there for have a separate season after fall archery or be held to use in all gun seasons only [confusedagain]

And do me a favor stop busting my balls in my posts already Lou, it's really getting old [eyeroll] If you have a question PM me [confusedagain]

I really wish you keep up buddy
nope i dont bother to keep up with the xbow non-sense,, thats why i asked when u flip floped instead of reading 21 million posts of crap to find out [wallmad][wallmad][wallmad][wallmad]

at this point its all it is, crap from both sides they aint gonna change each others minds,,,, both sides are standing there with wet pants from pissing in the wind trying to convert each other

only reason i even read this is because it was in general comments and not in the xbow section,,,[down]

Sorry Paul but New Jersey IS NOT LIKE OTHER STATES AT ALL [confusedagain]We are the most densely populated state in the country and so that needs to be looked at carefully before they just let any Joe shoe run around on his quad with a loaded cocked crossbow sitting on the handle bars or some shmuck crawling and stalking threw the heavy brush with a cocked and ready to fire crossbow [down]

Sam, sorry you didn't hold it right, but you know not to do that again...those strings snap hard.
As far as the thumb up in the F&G photo goes, I did that once. Only once . Yea, it hurt, but I learned a painful lesson.
This is not the right attitude. Hunters shouldn't have to hurt themselves to learn how to shoot the weapon correctly. The state should do the right thing and give a hunters ed course for all who want to use a crossbow. The UXBNJ should be pushing for this.

Ive said this for months now. The already licensed bowhunter will not be tested and there will be injuries because this. Mark my words.

Sorry to use you as an example, Sam, but this is exactly what will happen or worse. Glad nothing serious happened to you.

This is the thread I started early this year. I think it made it to page 3 before it got ugly.

I stay out of the whole crossbow BS section as well Lou but when it gets pulled up front it gets me going :D

I agree with you on that Lou, but since it's clear this state has made up it's mind long before anyone with a apposing opinion got a word in edge wise at LEAST they should make sure that the people they are tuning loose with this weapon are safely hunting with it, I don't think it is that much to ask for. Honestly the thought of uneducated crossbows hunters shearing the woods with me during early and fall bow season has me ten times more concerned about being on Northern state and WLM lands then the danger posed by the threat of any Black Bear or Mountain Lion [wallmad][wallmad]

Paul 9 out of 10 times I enjoy reading your posts. I really think you are going over board on this .

Your above quote could have the word crossbow took out and add the word gun to it. That scares me even more but we seem to get by each year.

I agree anyone that holds a bow license should have to take a field test. Anyone that does not hold a bow license needs to take a written and field test.

All in all this seems to be putting a wedge inbetween sportsmens. I say you take what ever the state wants to give you when it comes to hunting. If you do not want to do it that is your choice.

Sorry Don but, the FACT is a crossbow that is left cocked and ready fire "IS" as dangerous as a loaded gun and should be looked at in the same safety manner [confusedagain]
It's not like it is just a bow with and arrow on the string that would still need to be drawn to be fired That is my point and it is a very serious point that I will not make light of [spy] and this state better realize it BUT QUICK [eyeroll]
