I think I am going to part ways with these new 870 slug gun combos or maybe just the barrels in 12 and 20 gauge

I hear a lot of great things about the H&R slughunter

which is better 12 or 20.

The store says thet sell 10 of the 20's to every 12.

Thumbhole or not?

I HAVE A 20 SHOOTS GREAT I ACTUALLY DO LIKE THE THUMBHOLE IN THE ONE MY BROTHER HAS VERY COMFORTABLE

I have had the 12 since it first came out and it has always been a tack driver but it is not for the faint of heart(I only shoot the 3" magnums out of it)Whatever you shoot with it doesnt go far. On the other hand I have heard nothing but good things about the 20 gauge

That thing weighs as much as my Crew Cab Super Duty, It can't kick as hard as a little light weight Encore barrel. I may end up again with one of each. What ever I get the wife usually gets one too.

went to Clinton range today with the H&R 20.

For fun I taped up an old cabelas catalog (1387 pages and hard cover.)

One shot.

Entry hole is pretty small.

The backside damage is a little more noticeable. Somehow a few half pages popped out that were hanging by a thread.

So how much does it take to kill a deer these days?
When I bother to use a shotgun I use my H+R 20 OBTW the new high energy 20's hover around the 30-20 and .243 level and those two have killed more than their share of deer.
