Tonight I Finally Bagged My 1st. Fall & 1st. Bow Gobbler 10-29-08
It just all came together tonight as I was able to arrow my first bow Killed gobbler and my first ever fall turkey as well.
I spotted them while on my deer stand and quietly got down and made my way back to the jeep to grab my turkey slate call and was back in and in front of them in no time.
I could tell they were heading for there roost and was able to get up a head of them, but before they passed me a fox came out of no where and started breaking up the flock. They scattered and with in 10 or 15 minutes I had called in about 10 hens and a decent Tom, They slowly made there way passed me stopping and pecking around till the Tom finally gave me a good 25 yards shot, he flopped around for a few seconds then managed to run about 15 yards and was staggering there I could see blood pouring down his legs and knew I didn’t need to move and make another shot just then he took off flying about 60 to 70 yards and crashed into the swamp. I gave him till almost dark and found him right where he crashed never even moved again. Great Turkey hunt I thought that fox ruined it for me but the truth is he kind of helped it all come together. Sorry the pics aren’t so great but I’m beat and still have a lot to do.
