Just sitting here wondering if anyone here on the site has ever tried using a deer decoy here in N.J. Either a buck or a doe? I would be interested in hearing about your experiences with them. I have had good success using both doe and buck decoys in the Mid-West but have only had limited success here. How about you guys? Thanks for the feed back!

Yep...just started this year. Been playing with a doe decoy and it seems to calm the deer when they enter a field having a "deer" there already. Small bucks walked right up to it. Haven't put the antlers on yet so I'll keep you posted!

im cheap but i can draw. once drew a doe on cardboard, it came out real good. drew does into it alot, only problem was when they circle it, and got to the the thin side, the ''decoy'' would kinda disapear. then reappear. it usually freaked em out enough that they didnt stick around. it was kind of funny to watch.

Yeah I use them. I have 1 right now in my back yard. hangin' out. The does have been all over this thing for the past 2 weeks. Checking it out and sniffing it. I sprayed a little estrous pee on it to see what would happen and a nice 6 pt. came up to it tonight. What a show I had. To bad I don't have a vid camera. He tried mounting it but she fell down. boy was he surprised.

i have one in the feeding position with a tail that has a motor in it for motion. the deer tend to circle around it. its fun to watch the reactions but a pain to carry and doesnt make the hunting any easier if you think its gonna be the missing link to your hunting.maybe a decoy with a small set of antlers during the pre- rut would be more interesting.

i've never used one but i'm going to. I had a beautiful set up . I had a 14 pointer coming in to me grunting and bleeting and he stopped 70 yards out on a field edge. He wouldn't come any further and just looked at the edge i was on looking for the deer he was hearing. i think if i had a decoy out he would've come all the way in. It didn't look natural because there were noises but no source for it

4antler, I have taken two with decoys but have failed to take a couple of 170plus monsters in Iowa when I was in open woods rattling and grunting without my decoy. I was so mad at myself for being too lazy to carry my decoy in one morning I wanted to scream. It was one of those days that the huge bucks were traveling everywhere and I really made a mistake not bringing the decoy in. That one morning I saw two bucks that would have scored in the 170's or better not to mention several good lesser bucks. I stopped them all with the horns or grunts but when they did not see another deer (my decoy) they just kept on trucking. By the way this is the same area where the current world record buck taken by Tony Loveston was shot. Also I love the posted photos, by bowonly...thank you and thank everyone for the comments and experience stories!
