I'm interested in purchasing a recurve to start playing with it. I shot a friends borrowed one about ten yrs ago for the summer and was making very decent shots at up to 25 yds with it.

I know Mystic, Matty and others here have mentioned a traditional bowshop in the past.
Any shop suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have been looking at a Black Widow Bow, even saw some nice ones for around $600.00 on Ebay. But I want to hold up until I visit and confer with a traditional bowshop.
Thanks

Stick & String Archery Also try nontypical, He is also a dealer of trad gear. I would neve buy a bow from ebay. If you can wait till April, there is a Traditional Shoot at Whittingham. There will be lots of Traditional booths there and they will let you go shoot their bows so you can find the best one for you.

Also talk to Matty, He knows his [no swearing please] when it comes to bows but I still give him a hard time because he does more work on Wheely bows..

Just know you will be lossing some inches of draw, but not much witha recurve. I really like FoxFire's arrow chart when looking for arrows. I have found that is I add 4 inches to the length of arrow for my weight I am dead on with spine. You can also add weight up front to help with the spine too.

If I can be any more help just Email me.

P.S. try as many bows as you can before buying one. A great bow for me could be the worst one for you.

The best place to get "hand ons" traditional equipment is, Denton Hill, Coudersport,PA at the Rendezvous.
Problem is, you won't have much practice time for hunting season, beacause it's held in the summer.
Next month at the Harrisburg Show, there are always a few tradition dealers who have good supplys and info.

If you ever get up by Cooperstown, NY, Tollgate Archery in West Windfield (ex Jersey Boy) is a knowledgeable dealer

I have seen some unbeleivable deals on e-bay. look for Zippers they are sweet out of WV.Bighorns all stack.I have 2 take downs.Black widows are really nice and i like them but they seem to have to much handle for me in the site plain for my comfort. The arrows seen in there brosures are made by arrow art I beleive.I had a shadow brackenberry didn't like it sold it for 150.00 less than I paid to get ride of it.Good deals are around.I don't like Assenheimers either.

What kind of bow do you have swiper 1?
I have a Shrew LB 51#@26" I shoot 65-70/70-75 Cedars, Easton 2016 both with 125gr heads. This year I'll be making some ASH 55-60's with 125gr heads, maybe do them in Flu-Flu's. Hopefuly have them done before Turkey season.

I have found ash to be to heavy for me. Its good and hard and the shafts were straight but after every thing was mounted up and shafts sealed the shafts were very heavy. For hunting out of a tree they were good but target shooting I couldn't get used to them.
