Hi All
Looking for a good duck gun for this season been looking at the 11-87s autos and the bennelli nova pump kinda like to try an auto . any opinons on them.
Thanks
John

i have 1187's in 12 and 20 gauge. They're awesome guns that keep on working. With a little know how you can strip them down to parts in less than 10 minutes and really clean them good. This is especially handy if you're hunting in muddy salt snowy rainy good duck hunting weather. For a couple more bucks you can get a cantilever barrel and scope and you're in for deer hunting too

just patterned my new super black eagle,i love it.its a breeze to clean, not many parts.its a 28 inch comfortech in max 4.the only issue in my opinion is if you have a problem with recoil the three and a halfs reallykick, due to the light weight of the gun.

Nice! I got a 24" on my synthetic SBII...ya it kicks hard because its a light gun but with adrenaline from hunting you should feel it =) Only problem I had with mine was not lubricating the recoil tube because the shitty book doesnt tell you too so Ihad some failure to eject issues.

Benelli Nova. Best bang for your $$$. I personally like pumps as they give you a second to compose between shots.

i love mine. but if i didnt have the cash for that i would go with a mosberg 935. great gun and cheap also.
I always favored remingtons over mossbergs personally..You see the benelli m4 in desert camo? I wish i woulda got that instead of my sbII...nothing like hunting with a combat shotgun lol

I don't know how similar the 11-87 action is to the 1100's, but we had a few cycling problems with the 1100's when it was extemely wet and cold. We boiled it down to .. rain and snow is ok, but you can't let water splash on them, etc. But, it was only a few times .... probably insignificant.

The duck blind is one place were a heavy gun is welcome, to help with recoil ... if you're hunting coastal. When Browning first came out with their 12ga 3.5" model of their BPS pump gun, it was built on the BPS 10ga frame ..... real heavy gun, and the only gun I use for harsh, windy coastal shooting. Mine has a 24" barrel, but is still as long as a standard gun. They were only built on the 10ga frame for a year or two before they switched to the 12ga frame to save weight and length. When you find a used one, they are usually cheap. And, all BPS's are indestructable.

For cold weather hunting, I have the stock cut down for easier handling with heavy clothes on.

Good luck.

Great info! Brownings are great guns. I beleive the only difference between 1100 and 1187 is 1187 has a better compensating system for expelling extra gas, but its basically the same system. Wet and cold sounds like lubrication issue, do you use CLP or OIL?

$1400 I paid for mine I beleive w/comfortech. 1187's are great guns. Its up to you and how much money you wanna spend, the guns have different feels to maybe goto dicks and check out the benelli's. I drove to philly PA to get mine. If your gonna be duck hunting and using 3 1/2 shells your gonna feel the recoil on a pump gun. My SBII has a powerful recoil with 3.5in buckshot also because its a light gun but im 5'9 190lbs it really doesnt bother me. Do you target or clay shoot anywhere?
