Well, sat this afternoon from 4pm on. Really didn't think I would see anything, but sure enough, just around 6:45 pm, I notice movement to my forward left. Perfect positioning for me. I stand up, and get ready. Well, Mr Buck walks straight to my stand, followed by a fawn. And there the two of them stood for about 5 minutes, 10 yards away. But, there was still one more deer that didn't come in, so I waited, and waited. Well, the buck and fawn eventually walked in the direction of the other deer and as I watched the buck lick the fawn, the other deer walked right up to me. It was a doe, a mature doe. So, now I get excited. Just maybe, maybe I can get a shot at her. Well, she did everything right for me, and I, well . . . I almost did everything right. She looked at me for a second or two and I kept the bow in front of my face. Then she moved to give me a perfect broadside position, maybe 12 yards if that. I waited until she put her head down to graze, and as soon as she did, I took that opportunity to draw. Well. I heard it, and so did she. She immediately snorted and took off. I then heard her for about 5 more minutes in the woods blowing to warn any other potential wandering deer. Well, all I can say is that I am learning as I go and having a fantastic time at it :D

I assume the noise was coming from the arrow gliding along the rest. You might want to put a small piece of moleskin on the rest to quiet it down[up] problem solved...also make sure you shoot your bow afterwards to make sure it is on and if not make any necessary adjustments

Glad they're including xbows next year so we don't have to worry about anything like that coming from drawing a bow. What a relief!

Seriously though, congrats on an awesome encounter.

If it was indeed the prongs on the rest that made the noise, I'll share something that the guys at Spott-Hogg suggest. Use black electrical on the prongs keep them quiet, just one turn on each prong is enough. It doesn't last very long for me (20-50 shots) but since its so cheap to replace, who cares.
Other benefits, it is amazingly quiet and if only one turn is put on, it doesn't not change your impact points at all.

super slow movment is the key the deer (it think) trigger on sound yes but also movment one thing that helped alot was this blind the easton makes it is sort of like an umbrella that mounts on the front of the stand at an angle helps to hide my movemnt but they are smart little critters and they do not miss a trick that is for sure. Best of luck
