Heading out in a few didn't get much sleep man I can't wait for first light I hope these deer show up around 6:30 on there way to breakfast ;)
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE [up][up]

I have a 20 minute drive and a 3 minute walk. I still leave super early. Always in the stand by 5 am. I like the woods to settle back down after I come in.

Long story short. Had two fawns at 0630 . About 20 minutes later one fawn was in another opening and I decided to range it to see how far. When I put the range finder to my eye I hear the ever so dreaded blow. Looked to my left and seen 5 white flags running away.

EAB or not I choose to not shoot fawns or yearlings. Even with getting busted it was still better then working [up]

Lets see them pull that again come monday morning lol !

Hope the rest of you had better luck !

At 6:30 I got a shot at a lone doe that came in. I hit a small branch that I didn't see but still hit the deer. The doe went about 60yrds and bedded down, so I'm guessing I hit her back a little to far. Then another deer came in and spooked the one I hit she got up and went about another 20yrds and bedded down again. Then at 7:15 the mountain bikers went by and jumped her up again, this time she kept going so I packed up and left. I'm waiting for my friend to call and we'll go back in around noon and see if we can find her. I've had crappy luck this mourning hope everyone does better than me.

Zone 8 Private

Bumped a deer getting in at 5. Kept thinking I heard deer in the dark. Got light out and I sat until 8:30 without a sighting. Squirrels all over. One ran down my tree and into my lap. Saw a nice red tail hawk. Great morning and the first in a while I haven't shot a doe. Back out this afternoon at another spot.

I am posting this for BtownHunter from team 18. He took this nice doe at 7:30am after having several come in and not offering a shot from a blind at 12 yards away. He waited and this nice doe came in and after about five minutes gave him a shot and he put her down! We got it all on film, which was great.

Looking forward to seeing more photos today. I will post his tag later today becuase I forgot to take a photo so when he is done at the butcher I will post the tag.

Thanks,

Shoot Straight!

saw 11 deer total...6 with spots, 3 mature does (1 was piebald) and 2 young bucks (one was a 6 the other was atleast a 6). At 6:54 I managed to take one of the mature does that weighed in at 91 lbs. Great morning! Had "Snowflake" right under me but she got a pass [rofl]. Sorry team 13, I didn't get the pics for her to count in the contest. Forgot the camera and it was more important to get her to the butcher this morning. I'll make up for it with a buck (maybe tonight!) Congrats to all who have scored, good luck to everyone out there!

Zone 28 Sat til 9:30 on public land. Saw nothing, thought I heard some grunts but cant be sure. Did almost have a hummingbird land on me which was kind of cool

If they guys who were driving in while I was walking in see this, how did you make out?

Bickman37, no worries, it is a long season and it is not how you start but how you finish. I will be out either Tues or Wed to put 5 on the board.

Congrats on that doe![up]
