I am losing my property in Zone 2 Lafeyette. I am going to need a new place in the zone 5,2,8,6,13 or 9 to hunt in and feel safe enough to bring my sons with me they are 7-6 they like to go and sit with me but I will not bring them to public land. If anyone has any open spots they would like to share let me know. thanks

Yea the land owner is a good friend of mine but he is building horse stables on it and does not want hunting there anymore cause of the horses and his clients being there. he felt really bad telling me I could not go there anymore but I can understand. He has allot of acres and he needs the tax break. He said that if he finds someplace else for me to go he will let me know.

Sorry to hear that too Sean. I'm thinking of knocking on doors of farms for my dad, my cousin and myself. If you want to join me someday maybe we'll find a place. The place I am at will only be there for another year or two. There going to develope it.

Sure is I had allot of land back in the day now the only thing I can do on them pieces of land would be deliver mail. freaking cookie cutter houses everyplace I turn [mad][down]

Sean, do you have any areas in mind? I'm think of talking to some people that run farm stands and nursery's. I figure that being a meat hunter more than a trophy hunter may give me some leverage. It may save them some money on damages. I'm also going to join the NJ Federation of Sportsman to get the insurance policy.

I am thinking in sussex county I know the farmers want the deer gone so that would be the best place to start. Flemington would be 2nd but it is a far ride. I use to have property in hillsboro that backed up to some old military dumping ground or something like that but I never really seen anything worth wild down there. The deer always looked sick there must have been what was in the ground there?

I would be afraid to eat them.

I was thinking Sussex County as well. I was also going to try farms in Hunterdon and Warren counties. There may be some smaller places in Morris County as well.

Yea I know. Just looking to see if there is anything out there for when I bring the kids out I don't trust public land with the kids. I hunt public land and have noproblem with it and do pretty good just don't like bringing the kids. I took the boy out this morning there was only 4 guys out and we went opposit directions and I was still nervous but my son lives for hunting and I don't see him much so I had to bring him today and it was well worth it.

I have one great peice in Sussex that I hunt with two guys but we are only allowed to hunt there for muzzy, six day and the week after, so I am looking to lease another piece of land. I want to get back into bow hunting this year.

I am looking into one piece in Sussex County and was recently told there was a piece in Hunderton that would be available for the coming year. Between work and the bird dog I won't be able to bow hunt much, so if one of these two pans out I wanted to put together a group of 4 or 5 guys to hunt it. Both are good pieces where the herd could be managed and there should be some big ones there after the first year. There is currently a club on one of the pieces that only drives and shoots everything, (does, fawn small bucks) and the owner doesn't want a big group there anymore. I'll keep you posted.

I will. Where in Sussex County do you live? I lived there my whole life until 6 years ago and I still get up there at least once a week.

I am in Hopatcong but lived in Newton for 6 years. I hunt allot of Zone 5 and that tract of land that you were talking about near the paulinskill (Sp?) I hunt by that half bridge that was suppose to go over the road. I hunt on the left small piece of state land 2 fields and some nice mountain area. With some nice spruce cover.
