Old??? Bad batch possible. In a hot car all day could cause a breakdown of the rubber. Not the first time I've heard of this happening.

willemo, he's saying they just popped out...they didn't break.

Shouldn't matter where on the string you put them (assuming they aren't hitting anything on the oscillation).

My thought would be the same as BTs, either you have no twists in your string to "pinch" them tight or the string itself is loose?

Can you post a picture of them installed?

Did you *need* a press to install them? Or did you do it by hand? There's no way you should be able to split the string evenly without pressing the bow.

If the string is streched then the ATA is held by the cables and the string is slightly loose when static. The leeches will pop right out at the end of the powerstroke when the string relaxes because there is not enough pressure between the strands to hold them. I bought a new PSE bow recently and had the same thing happen. I figured the string isn't done streching and I don't want to twist anything just yet so I tied the leeches in with a wrap of serving material. It has worked so far (probably 100 shots). Just an FYI leeches have an estimated life span of a couple hundred shots. If you read the SIMS website they state the leeches are for hunting not target shooting so they have a pretty short life span. I will probably switch to whiskers when these break or wear out. I have leeches on 2 bows and other than them popping off the new PSE I haven't had any problems with them.

Yeah, very important that the bow is in spec with the correct string (length) and cable (length). With the bow maxed out...ATA should be exact, cam/wheel rotation correct, max draw weight close (within 5#) and brace close (within 1/8").

Sounds like things are too loose on the bow overall...whether you use leeches or whiskers is the least of your concern...you need to get the bow setup/tuned properly with the right strings/cables first.

Good luck.

Killer,

I know it's a totally different bow, but when I got a new string put on my bow, I asked if they could place these same leeches in.

Sure enough...after about 5 shots the left one flew out. Luckily, I was able to fined it.

Anyway, I think the nubs on them should be a bit higher/thicker.

I'm just glad that it didnt recochet off of your limb and hit you in the eye !!
lol i had to sount out "ricochet" 10x before i figured out what word it was... i never seen it written down before, made me feel dumb once i realized! LOL

Wow, maybe I've been lucky over my last 5 bows...never had a leech come out...ever. And I've never served them in.
i dont think you would have a problem with enough twists in the string.
he has his bow lowered to the minimum, and never threw twists in the string, so they are probably not twisted tightly..
