Don't sweat the small stuff .And it's all small stuff.

how can I become a great master baiter like you guys.
how many deer do I need to kill over a bait pile to become a master baiter?...
This level is only achieved by those that spend many years alone - you can tell when you have arrived at this level when you start to loose your eyesight. Ask Cat.[ko]

i have the problem also that the deer avoid my area at all costs ( all though i have only a little hedgrow attached to a 4 acre block of woods) but i use apples usually, and i only get small deer to move thru to get them. we dont have a normal deer movement, so once in a while i get the stupid ones. Im just saying that apples brings SOME deer to my area.[sleep]

We have feeders on all of our properties but don't hunt over them they are for the purpose of scouting cams only. I scatter corn all around my stand almost to the point where you can't see it. It keeps em looking and keeps them in the area for good shot opportunities. Areas that I have feeders the deer tend to come at night so it's not a good idea to put a feeder at your stand site. Unless you set to go off only in the morning.

Yeah I won't ever forget that again that was scrwed up big time. Having to go into my stand with one eye and shoot with one eye rather than 2. If there was 1 deer standing there it looked like 2 with both eyes open. I thought I had a herd when I had only one there? I had an eye stroke at that time I found out.

I never had any problems with piles of corn my self they ate 300 pounds in 3 days usally and kept coming back for more arrows?[hihi][hihi][hihi]

heres my senerio:

if im going hunting saturday.....

Thusday i will try and get to my spot and using either a 50 or 100 lb bag of corn, i cut a hole in the corner and spin around in circles so its all in a 5-10 foot circle...

Saturday i hunt it.

Saturday evening i carry another 100 bag in the woods with me and i put the bag on the ground in the pile, cut the top off, bend down and stick both hands in the bag...grabbing corn and flinging it pretty far... (spreading it this way, i found, keeps the deer coming back until my next trip out on thursday where i start the sequece over..) if i were to dump in in the pile like i do on thursdays the deer eat it within 2 days. that means they dont visit the spot tuesday and wednesday. (which i want them to, JUST INCASE i get out one of those days to hunt...

PLUS, dont MIX baits. they become sour and the deer wont eat it. i tried horse feed once. they didnt touch it. i threw corn in the same spot and they didnt touch that either. the horse feed actually became moldy and i could smell it before i get to the spot...

PLUS, in the rut, the bucks (at least where i hunt) rarely visit the corn piles. they usually cruise past at 30-50 yards just looking for does. They know to check the corn piles regularly like food plots,
