A little help. People are taking time from their jobs on Thursday (1/2 day) to go to Trenton to be your voice. They will also spend toll and gas money doing so.

We had the bills written on your behalf (and our own.) All that is being asked is for you to send an email in support. Please see this post.

All sportsmen and sportswomen should be emailing. Unity!!

Thanks.

Just copy and paste for your email:

Dear

I support bill A595 Changes perimeter for bow and arrow hunting around occupied building from 450 feet to 150 feet.

I also support bill A283 Establishes Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Program in DEP. This program takes a surcharge imposed on drug convinctions and places it into an anti-drug, alcohol and tabacco awareness program that is combined with a learn to fish education. Pilot programs in two states found the retention rate was better than the popular DARE programs.

Thank you for consideration.
Yours truly,

Ant

I re-wrote the above as it had spelling errors and I didnt want to send representing as such. This is the email that I just sent to ALL listed Committee Members:

It only takes 10 minutes to call all of the legislators on the AAN Committee. In addition to sending an email, please give them each a call to let them know that you support A-595 and A-283. It is also a good idea to thank Assemblywoman Marcia Karrow for sponsoring A-595.

Scott, thank you.

My hands were trembling from anger. We spend hours a day posting on forums - carping, arguing, cussing, fighting over little things - but when it comes to writing three sentences to show legislators we care about fishing, hunting or trapping everyone evaporates.

It took time and concern for the bills to be written by Brian and Ed, getting sponsors for the bills, months of advancing/monitoring its progress by NJOA, UBNJ, NJSFSC and others, a relationship with the committee chair to request the bills be heard, receiving approval for the bills to be heard, people taking time off to go to Trenton to show support - and then when we ask for an email as a show of support everyone is inconvenienced

BS!

I had to vent.

Fisher, Douglas H. - Chair
Albano, Nelson T. - Vice-Chair
Amodeo, John F.
Conaway, Herb
Karrow, Marcia A.

Emails sent to each. I hope BH22 doesn't mind that I used his as a model for mine.

Done again just incase my emails from yesterday were deleted :D

FYI....I just received a response from Assemblywoman Marcia Karrow to the above email that I forwarded, same being:

Mr. Bennett:

Thank you very much for your words of support. As you probably know, Assemblywoman Karrow is the prime sponsor of A-595 and she is very pleased that it has been posted for a vote by the Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee. With respect to A-283, Asw. Karrow will, I am sure, keep your support in mind when reviewing the legislation.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write to her.

Sincerely,

Melissa D. Nichols

Thanks to all of you for supporting these bills.[up]

Not only for the sake of passing the bills - but letting the legislators know there are REALLY people that care enough to contact them. They recognize that if you are willing to contact them that you are probably someone that votes!

FYI -

1. The title is to get bow hunters attention. I wrote in my post All sportsmen and sportswomen should be emailing. Unity!! (see above)

2. It was the former president of the Federation, and current VP of the NJOA, Ed Markowski, that met personally with the Chair, Asm Fisher, and requested the bill be voted on by the committee.

3. Brian, UBNJ, and NJOA Council Chair for the bill, had the bill drafted and gathered sponsors & co-sponsors.

We worked as a team. As it should be, right?[up]
