After hearing hunters say that the deer herd #'s are down; the great & wise F&G Council has deemed it necessary to create another deer regulation set...ADDING more days...I bet they won't be in February...[down]

Proposal 2 would add “Regulation Set 9” to the list of existing regulation sets (N.J.A.C. 7:25- 5.29). This proposed change was explained to the Council by Principal Biologist Kandoth. She noted that it would add four days to the permit muzzleloader and permit shotgun seasons. Assistant Director Herrighty also gave details of this proposal to the Council. After some additional discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Puskas, seconded by Councilman Kertz to approve this change. A vote was taken with all in favor, none opposed.

fight for a change in council it needs to be done

I think it is time for some new biologists too. Even the average joe can see. In areas where hunter access is good the deer #s are way down. There are problems in areas with no hunter access. But no amount of weapons or added days on the season will fix that. They are ruining hunting in Nj that is the #1 reason hunter #s are dropping off. But the have their $$$ blinders on time for them all to go[down]

Back in like 02 or 03 they had permit shotgun open until March in some areas if I remember right. That was crazy.

The state went from actual wildlife management to just hunter management i.e. do everything they can to squeeze more money from hunters. So the quality of hunting keeps going down along with hunter participation yet they cann't figure out why? So their answer add more gun hunting and crossbows to archery season.

Write letters, go to F&G Council meetings, go to Federation meetings. Writing stuff here does nothing
I write letters on a regular basis, my friends and family do as well. Frankly I don't think the division gives a flip. Now they started answering with generic responses indicating that they don't even read the content anymore.

The Division has gone down the tubes along with every other government entity in this state.

One more thing, you are dead wrong in saying that writing stuff here does not help. I know for a fact that both this site as well as the bowsite is regulalry monitored by division personell.

Absolutely insane, what are these people thinking????
No actual thought to it most likley? I would cast my opinion that it was insurance companys behind this.

Insurance companys want all deer dead so they don't have to pay out motor vehicle deer collisions.

They say the hunters can't kill enough. I tend to agree on that statement.Who has a chance like a car to hunt 24 x 7 12 by 360 a year and thats leaving out leap year.[hihi][hihi]

guns coming now in the november woods you think the other weapon was a problem you will lose many hunters if this happens and that is a fact

Less deer, so they add more days ? [down]

NJ should start the season 1st of October and close the season second week in January.

Shorten the gun seasons to only a few permit days, leave 6-Day the way it is.

Bow can run the entire lenght of the season, however, all buck harvests with bow would require EAB.

Do this for 2 years to build up the herd in heavily hunted areas and allow an age structure to be established in said herd.

Then, return back to our normal season to make the people that like a longer season happy.

ive experienced this first hand talking to them. we as hunters in the field are the best research tools they have and we get left out. they need to leave the office once in a while and get out in the woods. I WONDER how much mo[down]ney that extra 4 day permit is gonna cost.
