In a couple of weeks I am going up to Worthington for a weekend of camping.

I used to camp there all the time, but have not been up for 5 years.

I used to fish mainly with small curly tail jigs and Rooster Tails. I would do Ok with the smallies and rock bass, but never caught anything of note.

Anyone fish up there often enogh to drop me a couple of tips.

I do have a fly rod that was given to me as a gift a couple of years ago that I would like to get a chance to try out. I have not fly fished in quite a while either, but I am sure I can get my casting technique back.

Do you have a boat or canoe or something. The poxono ramp just above where you will be camping is great place to find small mouth and musky. It is deeper and slower water there you don't need a huge boat and an electric motor is fine just stay away from where the rapids start again. I have caught 3 ft musky in that area and when the smallies are hitting you can catch a ton of them. I use alot of #2 and #3 gold blue fox vibrax spinners, 3" and 4" senkos, small sluggos. Live bait choice would be medium shiners and helgramites.

I do not have a boat.... and I have used those helgramites and they were dynamite. But they were pricey and did not last long at all.

Thanks for the tips

Sometimes I bring my noodle rod 10 ft ultra like and walk the shores from Worthington camp ground up to poxono along the fast water. Throw spinners and phoebees or drift bait. I use the noodle rod because I can cast the entire river in that section with it. You can fish from shore easily above and below poxono area. The only thing that gets you is all the canoes and rafts going by. Nice for bikini watching though;)

Nice for bikini watching though
Going with a couple of my wife's girlfriends, so I am bringing the bikinis with me [up]

How do you fish the Senko in the river... with a weight? Or do you toss it up stream and real it as it drifts twords you? I've only used them in a lake, normally wacky rigged around Lilly Pads.

north of worthington theirs a spot called rivers bend its were the flatbrook dumps into the river its a good wadeing spot and good for cats at night and then south on 46 east were king koles groves was is a real good wadeing spot for bait try catching a mess of killies and bring them with you a small air pump will keep them just change the water every day to get the shit and piss out of the water and lures small spinner baits and top waters and small jerk baits like the huskie jerk

buy helgramites, and nail the smallies.
Do you know if there is a fly pattern that replicates them.... or a lure perhaps?

I did see a lure on Cabelas, but it just looked like a small crankbait.

How's a kayak do up there? I'm looking for an over-nighter with just the boys and I.

If anybody needs an alternate campsite, try Bear Creek Campground in Walpack. The State Trooper who owns it rents sites along the Flatbrook, and there is still plenty of stocked trout along his stretch of the river. There are no facilities there except for a water spigot, and porto johns. It is a secure area though, so you won't have to worry about leaving your belongings there if you go out. 1-973-948-4384

A large stone fly will probably do the trick.
