Dont you people get tired of repeating yourselves. The same nonsensical points constantly float around this site--and I dont really speak much on them. In all seriousness this is really getting old [sleep][sleep] I dont see how you people (pros/cons) get off on arguing over the same stuff everyday. Stop copying and pasting from other threads to repeat points. Why dont you fools take up another hobby to argue over?

Still Most poachers used firearms as we all know (.22 caliber is the most common)

Ace,The area I live in has had some serious poaching problems. The 22 was top dog for these idiots for many years. With more houses, paved roads, and police presence alot of them went to xbows with night vision. I'm not trying to say xbows "promote" poaching, but when I pointed this out in another thread I was jumped on with guys telling me not to speculate. So I posted some facts. My whole point was that poachers will exploit anything they can and xbows are being exploited by them bigtime. How do we stop it,I don't know, wish it never happened. Just some facts so I don't get accused of speculating.

Tim I supplied facts on F&G salaries and proved you wrong, but you answer with another smart ass reply, gave you a couple examples of poaching and you ignore them. Get a life, you can't understand what you don't read. My reply was directed towards Ace cause he replied that he didn't understand what the post was about and wanted to give him my view. He can reply for himself,he's definatly capable. He has some very understandable views and responds with intelect. Can't say the same for you.

I don't know the answer maximus, the .22 doesn't cause poaching, money doesn't cause armed robbery, criminals do what they do, and NO laws will ever change that...

The "best" deterrent to poaching is for folks who hate it to become even more active, report every activity and insist it's investigated, get plate numbers, descriptions etc.

We Know they don't want to get caught, do everything you can to make sure they do, their buddies will hear about it before most others do and will thus have to decide IF it's still worth the risk.....IF they foolishly take the risk they get caught too, soon the Resource Thieves are where they belong and much lighter pockets to show for it.......since they changed from .22 they've proven they won't just quit, they want to take less risk, if enough folks make the risks greater they'll soon run out of options (or freedom)..... :D

Poachers steal from the future generations.......no matter what weapons they use, they need to be caught and pay for that IMO.....

I agree Ace,no argument here. At least you took the time to read my responce and see where i"m coming from. I hate poachers with a passion and yes it is them who will exploit the xbow, never blamed the xbow itself, that would be rediculous.

I would MUCH rather we all (as sportsmen/women) focus on All the things we have in common and accept each other's opinions, likes and dislikes even when/if we don't always agree with them ...the "personal stuff" makes us all look bad and doesn't help anyone or anyone's stance IMO.

"I" see the crossbow inclusion in NJ as a positive, just as inclusion of compounds added to OUR voice, no more and no less. Let each hunter decide for themselves what they bow hunt with to ME it's much more important they're out there bow hunting than it is, with what/which weapon(s) they choose to use in doing so.

This is where the fact that you don't hunt NJ is important. My personal experience leads me to believe that F&G isn't necessarily concerned with poaching, especially deer. I had an incident 2 years ago where I heard the shot, saw the evidence. It was a rifle in bow season, opening day of early bow. I called it in. Received a response from an out of area CO who said my area CO would be in touch. NEVER heard a thing for 2 months. When the CO finally called it was too late.

Yeah, that "only" happens in NJ [eyeroll]

That is the reason I tried to make it clear that you have to have several doing it AND keep on demanding action be taken.

You saw the evidence? Did you get descriptions plate numbers and make sure the CO had those? BTW two months is not "too late", they've convicted several folks much longer than that, having good enough evidence so they can obtain what they need for a Conviction is the key.

As for the fact I don't hunt there, that's hilarious! Do you really think in Rural Ky poaching isn't a problem?[rofl]

There was a time in the areas that I hunt more were poached than legally killed, yet a bunch of us that cared helped to correct that......so yes it Can be done.....it takes time and effort just like most valuable things do.

But when the word 'gets out" in that circle that folks are getting caught and NOT getting a "slap on the wrist", it's amazing how much better things will get.

But my feeling in NJ is that DEER are "NUISANCES" in a good deal of communitites. Hell F&G allows them to be slaughtered by "HIRED" guns. If this is happening I have to question how much concern there would be of a poaching incident. No, 2 months is not too long BUT the physical evidence was GONE!! I did my part and I feel they dropped the ball.

Deer are a "pest" in many areas of most states, just ask the land owners, farmers, folks who lose flowers, shrubs etc. THAT is the reality of why in those areas there will NEVER be 'all the deer hunters want to see' in them.....EVER!

I agree they should have done more and sooner, but often it takes several filing complaints for that to happen, we don't know what other cases were being worked at the time either FWIW.... Get to KNOW your CO, it pays off in "big ways" trust me on that one :)

MENDHAM TWP. — A Massachusetts man was arrested and another still at large after township police nabbed the duo for poaching deer.

Robert Adams, 39, of Lake Pleasant, Mass. was charged Thursday with possession of an illegal weapon — a crossbow

Abrusci said the crossbow is a dangerous, preloaded, point-and-shoot weapon that has a trigger that shoots an arrow similar to how a gun would discharge a bullet

Noooooo they won't be used by poachers, they use 22's[rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl]
