Yeh I know-NOT ANOTHER MOUNTAIN LION THREAD[mad]

A woman reported to fish and wildlife that she observed a "large cat" pounce upon and kill a deer in her back yard in the Cranberry lake section of Allamuchy mountain state park. The "large cat" then dragged the deer a short distance into the woods and fed upon it.

The State is currently examining the carcass of the deer, and searching the immediate area for signs of the "large cat"

Not sure how this one will turn out[confusedagain]

Ok now this is going to make Ghilliescouts day.[hihi]

That is the good part. Ghillie is a believer and I believe that, in some way, he will be vindicated by an actual lion found walking in NJ. Mostly, this stuff is like Nessie - a hoax or....a misinterpretation if you have an escaped captive lion, a bobcat nailing a sick skipper, or a blond coyote closing the deal and someone innocently misidentifies the predator. It is like Bigfoot - if they were around someone would have capped one during hunting season by now.... No???

ok, so she watched this thing.....in her backyard...take a deer down, kill it, drag it into the woods and then sit there eating it.

and she NEVER thought to get a camera? camcorder, CELL PHONE camera, anything.

wonder if you will ever hear anything more about it or if it will be one of those stories that just vanishes without ever hearing if there was a track found or anything.

....I wonder how many NJ CO'S attended the mountain lion workshop this past year[hihi]......

Not sure how this one will turn out
....[confused]....After examining the area it will be determined that there are no mountain lion in NJ...but they are not ruling out an escaped or released pet[smirk].......

Mountain lion spotted in NJ park?
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 01/6/07

MATAWAN — A mountain lion was spotted by police in a borough park Friday, prompting officials to urge the public to be alert but not to panic.

"I do believe they are more afraid of us than we are of them, but I would caution the residents in the area," Borough Councilman Paul Buccellato said.

The animal was observed in Gravely Brook Park, he said.

Police, along with state wildlife personnel, tried to find the mountain lion but were unsuccessful. Mountain lions are also known as cougars.
