Well, I got the ok to take a doe in Annandale. Was supposed to work until 3pm today, however, 2pm came I went running out the door before anybody could stop or even question me. Got into my stand around 3:30pm. Within minutes I was surrounded by 8 or so deer, all anterless, and coming at me from many directions. I found the doe I wanted to shoot, but she was a very nervous deer and sometimes stopped motionless for what seemed like 5 minutes at a time. With all that was going on, I had no shot at her and let the smaller deer pass by. Well, again, my patience paid off. Around 4:30 I heard crunching behind me and before I could slowly turn around a small anterless deer walked right below my stand, followed by three others. There were four anterless deer all within 30-40 yards of me when a 6 point buck came out from in front of me and started chasing them. I know the largest was a doe, but I do not know about the 3 smaller ones. I can not take a buck until Jan 5 when shotgun comes in again, so it was going to be one of the anterless, hopefull the one I was sure was a doe. Well, in the distance I saw several more anterless deer coming my way, but it was getting late and too many deer around me just doesn't seem to work out, so as soon as I had a shot at the doe the buck had been chasing, I took it. It was a straight on heart shot at about 45 yards. She ran right at me and dropped not 10 yards away beside a 4 ft wide, 6 inch deep stream. How convenient was that? So, my first doe this season, but my third deer so far. I have 2 or 3 more to go to fill up my freezer, and I am ahead of last year, so I am happy :)

The orange hat is for those of you who questioned my 200 inches of hunter orange or an orange hat on the last deer I got. I wear it while hunting, but as I mentioned before, vanity makes me take if off for pictures.

Buffalostink, I though of you today while there was so much deer action going on around me. I truely do hope you get a chance to get out there this year.

i have the same gun
I didn't like it at first. Last year when I was using power belts, I couldn't get the gun to group shots. This year I changed to lock n loads, and although they are really hard to get down the barrel, the gun groups great and I really do like it now :)

The law reads
Firearms hunters must ware a cap made of solid daylight fluorescent otange or an outer garment containing at least 200 square inches of fluorescent orangematerial visible from all sides at all times while engaged in hunting. A camo orange hat alone is not adequate.
By the way congrates.
