Well, I got the ok to take a doe in Annandale. Was supposed to work until 3pm today, however, 2pm came I went running out the door before anybody could stop or even question me. Got into my stand around 3:30pm. Within minutes I was surrounded by 8 or so deer, all anterless, and coming at me from many directions. I found the doe I wanted to shoot, but she was a very nervous deer and sometimes stopped motionless for what seemed like 5 minutes at a time. With all that was going on, I had no shot at her and let the smaller deer pass by. Well, again, my patience paid off. Around 4:30 I heard crunching behind me and before I could slowly turn around a small anterless deer walked right below my stand, followed by three others. There were four anterless deer all within 30-40 yards of me when a 6 point buck came out from in front of me and started chasing them. I know the largest was a doe, but I do not know about the 3 smaller ones. I can not take a buck until Jan 5 when shotgun comes in again, so it was going to be one of the anterless, hopefull the one I was sure was a doe. Well, in the distance I saw several more anterless deer coming my way, but it was getting late and too many deer around me just doesn't seem to work out, so as soon as I had a shot at the doe the buck had been chasing, I took it. It was a straight on heart shot at about 45 yards. She ran right at me and dropped not 10 yards away beside a 4 ft wide, 6 inch deep stream. How convenient was that? So, my first doe this season, but my third deer so far. I have 2 or 3 more to go to fill up my freezer, and I am ahead of last year, so I am happy

Buffalostink, I though of you today while there was so much deer action going on around me. I truely do hope you get a chance to get out there this year.
