The problem is 90% of the hunters in this state do not know what self restraint is. They do not care about management, if they have a tag and it's in range it's dead. Then they complain the following year when they are "not seeing the deer they use too"

This finger type pointing mentality is chasing members away form the site guys [confusedagain]
worse thing they ever did was make doe days during BUCK season
It's NOT Called Six Day "BUCK" Season or Shot Gun Season [confused] It's The Six Day "Deer" Season and that because it's "THE GUN DEER SEASON" IS FOR BUCKS AND DOES IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY SO GET OVER IT AND GET USE TO IT ALREADY [wallmad], It aint gonna change so stop looking in everybodies elses truck at what they are shooting and just hunt for what you want to shoot. LEAVE THE HEARD MANAGEMENT AND BIOLOGY TO OUR STATE BIOLOGISTS, AND HUNT WHILE YOU CAN.

I have talked to several people who say they are turned off by the way guys are looked down upon and pointed out on NJH for doing nothing more then legally hunting [down]

who would have thought you would have to deal with that on a HUNTING SITE, this is not being pointed in anyones direction but just a real shame the way hunters knock other hunters for legally hunting game in a manner they want.

I think to myself "another doe".
The only time when I hear a shot go off and KNOW it is a buck down is in Zone 4, so when I'm hunting anywhere in New Jersey other then Zone 4 and hear a shot go off I think cool the deer are moving and some one just got lucky enough to tag some meat for the freezer [tasty][tasty][tasty]

Shame on you guys for shooting does.

Save them for me. :D

Serious thought, I do try and stay away from the small bucks. Our property is going to be changing next year with development on the horizon so I'm not 100% sure what will be left for us to hunt on. [down]

In Zone 16 My buddy had 15-18 does in front of his stand today He tried taking a shot but I walked in on him and scared them away Didn't realize they were there until I was 25-30 yds. away. He'll be out tomorrow if not Saturday.

Next week I am shooting anything that walks by to get meat in the freezer. I've been out 8 times so far and have not seen one deer close enough to shoot with the bow. This week seen a ton of doe's but no doe permit. I'm kickin' my self in the A$$ right now......

Do you need a Doe permit next week for Extended S/G 12-14th in Zone 16 or is is unlimited Doe's next week.

You can shoot Does in Zone 16 during 6 day.

Time to get a digest and learn the rules in the Zone your hunting. You have to have an Extended S/G permit to hunt the Extended season.Heres the link ! http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/2007/dighnt46-58.pdf

No you cannot shoot does in 16 this week even if you have a permit.
Paul I am not pointing fingers. I just hate hypocrites. A person who shoots everything that moves has no right the following year to complain about the lack of deer they see. F&W needs to get rid of the unlimited bag limit because it is ruining public land.

I shot a doe first day in the am. Farmer wants them thinned out. They destroyed his crops this year. I we want private land to hunt we better start thinning the herd. There are 4 of us that hunt this property regularly. 2 of us got a doe so far if the other 2 get one that is 4. Hopefully we each get a buck and that is 8. That is 8 less deer eating his crops. Not to count bow season

jrhunt,

I have the digest and some of it is hard to understand sometimes confusing atleast it is to me.
I have my extended permit plus a buck tag for next week. I was just wondering if you needed a Doe permit also.. So you mean to tell me I can shoot a doe this week with the 6-day permit. or do I need a doe permit this week. I've been passing up does left and right. Since Monday I've seen 25-30 of them.

You can not shoot a doe in Zone 16 with a Shotgun this week. Period.( You can Kill a Doe if your bow hunting) Next week you need your extended permit ($28) to shoot a Doe. If you want to shoot a Buck next week you also need a Buck permit.($28)
Make sure you Do not shoot a Doe in Zone 16 with your shotgun during 6 Day.

I'm looking for bucks...In zone 8 I have Jan and Feb to worry about the management does. And I will not shoot small buck...sorry I wont do it if I'm not proud of it...I dont have many places to hunt so no sense in ruining my spot for just meat hunting...Like I said I have time...[wallmad]

it' just me but i will go without deer meat before i would shot a doe
Why is that?...I would rather go without meat before I shot a small antlered buck...(If meat is your desire shoot does, if antlers is your desire shoot only large bucks...)

In virtually every part of this state the buck to doe ratio is already all out of whack...avoiding shooting doe's does nothing but agrivates the problem.
