This is a long story but i will keep it brief, i had a spot i was saving for the rut. I had my camera out there and went to check it a couple weeks ago only to find someone had smashed it to pieces, (idiot forgot to take card out and i have a picture of him), anyway i notice a new treestand in one of the trees i hunt there so i try to get in touch with the landowner to find out what is going on however he was away, so i leave a note on the tree. Well this guy calls me and says he got permission to hunt the property in exchange for some tree removal work. I tried to tell him i have been hunting there for the last 15 years and he is set up in my tree and we need to discuss where we are all hunting. The dude turns out to be a total a$$ and is refusing to remove his stand. So i tell him about the smashed camera as he is the main suspect, he of course denies it however he refuses to meet me so i can show him the picture. so anyway i call him two days ago to tell him me and my brother and my two nephews will be hunting the property for youth day and i plan on hunting my spot, which is only thirty yards from his stand. This dude calls the landowner and starts complaining saying that we are hunting too close with guns and an accident may happen and the landowner will be liable ( i guess he thought he could get us thrown off). Well the landowner decides nobody is hunting anymore thanks to this idiot so now i have two extremly upset nephews and words cannot describe how pissed off i am.not to mention i just lost my spot i have been hunting for fifteen plus years thanks to this J/O. Good news is i will be getting the guy in the picture identified soon and charging him.

dude sorry to here that..i'm going threw the same thing in ny. the owners brothers in law hunts his property(witch nobody in the family can stand him ,hes a dead beat) anyway the owners don't want to here nothing about any problems. any way this year alone he stole 2 tree stands (bin there for years) glue 2 of our locks to the gate closed and cut half way threw some of my buddys tree steps..i feel your pain

Something to think on...
If you include the CO's from F&G too when jamming him up it could pay dividends.
The sweetest revenge of all would be getting his hunting privileges in NJ shutdown - in addition to whatever criminal penalties he will have to pay, of course.[smoke]
Once he can no longer hunt - you and ChrisM can go round to all of his other spots (which you will need in order to see if there have been other reports of similar crimes on other properties which he hunts[hihi]) and pick them up while doing your civic duty of informing the landowners that he can no longer hunt in NJ.
Whilst in one way I am very sorry that this happened to you I am also glad that he chose you, a police officer, to mess with because I know that you will be able to mess with him to a far greater degree than he could ever dream possible.

I don't think this matter was handle correctly.
Why I say this:
to Accuired farmer land to hunt, its very hard. building trust, relationship its all hard work.
you guys should have work on a little negotiation, before getting to this extreme. Its not a matter of messing with the wrong guy. Its the message you are sending out there to farmers and the judicial systems.
Anyway its a sorry event for all of us.
