I hunted my stand in Turkey Swamp park Fri evening. Went there this morning to bait it for tomorrow and was cleaned out. They took my stand climbing stick bow hooks pull rope safety strap and my daughters trail camera. All were locked up with heavy locks and 3/8 inch cables. The camera had a metal lock box on it with a lock. It has to be someone who lives close by and more than one person. I was hunting the area off Ely Harmony rd and the rangers said there were no trucks in that lot yesterday all day.
There are 2 houses there that have arcehry targets & ladder stands in the yard. Rangers said they had a stand stolen around the same time out of that spot last year.
If anyone on here saw any trucks parked from the wma sign to Nomoko rd please give me the model & color. The rangers want to talk to anyone hunting along ely harmony yesterday.
Total dollars in equipment taken $245[down] If I ever caught someone taking my stuff, well you can guess what will happpen to them.

I know it sucks, but I have to wonder about you guys who leave your things on public land and then get pissed off when they disappear. Especially after everything you read on here and the stories you hear in your local outdoors shop. I hunt public land and won't leave anything in the woods that I wasn't ready to park with.

I came across a $179.98 climber the other day at Glassboro WMA, just attached to the tree. No locks, no nothing and only about 10 feet in off of a power line field, it was visible from the field. If I wasn't raised a bit different this guy would have been out of luck. And once it is stolen, how are you going to prove that it wasn't the crooks to begin with?

I'd be aggravated to I guess, it sucks no doubt. I wish everyone was honest and we didn't have to worry about anything. I guess I used to think most people were like that. I had a street bike stolen this summer from my g/f house. I had made 2 payments on the bike and only had liability insurance. Gone. If people are willing to steal cars, motorcycles and such, they are going to walk off with your trail cam and tree stand.

i hunted fort dix last week and had my bucket of corn stolen. i pulled off the road walked up a trail and set the bucket down behind a tree. there was no one signed out to hunt the area i was in. i drove my brother around the area to the other side and left my truck parked near his spot. when i walked back over to my hunting spot about 20 minutes later the bucket of corn was gone. NOW IVE SEEN IT ALL[wallmad]

I had a really nice tree set up since last year. I never leave the stand there. I took a lot of time cutting up shooting lanes and spiking the tree and picking the spot out ect. I hunted it a bunch last year and once this year. The second time I want to hunt it, I walk in and find a stand all setup in that tree. No body around, just the stand. How bogus. My bow hook still in the tree ect. Now, I know public land, first come first serve. But don't block me from hunting a tree that I prepared. If you'r in the stand fine, I'll quietly walk out and wish you luck. I was brought up the right way, I left his stand and every thing alone. I'm going to take a walk tomorrow and if it's still there, I'm going to leave a note and possibly a pile of doo doo on the seat of his stand.
Bottom line, you don't own public land and shouldn't leave your stuff there, make room for the next guy in line to hunt there. Some people would rather take your stuff than write you a note. Trail cams and corn, thats another story, you aren't blocking anyone from hunting if you have a trail cam setup.

You guys all are thieves. just do what everybody else does and go steal someone elses
Sounds like you don't belong on this site. Takes a small man to say stuff like that. Your screen name fits.

I have 2 special spots I like to hunt. There's a lok-on 40 yds from one and a ladder stand 15 yds from the other. Neither stand has been hunted in over 5 weeks. I left a note and it's still there, Meanwhile I've been giving these 2 bozo's the shot at hunting them on Saturdays and stay clear. I will not steel them but probably report them to the Co's and hopefully they will remove them.[mad]

use a climber and don't keep your stuff in the woods if you leave it over night saw good bye and live with it if not climb your tree every time
i hate folling deer sign and 100% of the time it leads to a stand and bait pile

Guys this is a county park hunt. You have to put your # on your stand and sticks. Just because you put your stand up does not mean you are blocking anyone from hunting that area. In fact the park encourages guys to hang a stand and they are limited to one stand per park.
I am a 40 year old grown man I do not need lectures about leaving stuff in the woods. No one should ever have to worry about leaving their stand locked in place. They should not have to worry about coming in and finding crap on it as happy said he is going to do. Happy maybe the guy thinks you moved to a different spot. Try to get in touch with him and let him know you still hunt there like a fellow gentleman bowhunter should do. We spend enough time dealing with the antis we should not have to worry about our stuff being stolen. The stand was an xmas gift from teh wife last year and the camera was won by my daughter at the ubnj jamboree this year. That makes this so much worse!

i could not agree with you more njbowman, we work hard and try to relax in the woods and we put alot of time, money and efforts into the outdoors. We DO NOT NEED SCUMBAGS OUT THERE CALLING THEMSELVES SPORTSMAN GOING AROUND AND TAKING THINGS FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST TRYING TO ENJOY THIS GREAT SPORT WE HAVE. PEOPLE LIKE THAT DO NOT NEED TO GET CAUGHT BY POLICE BUT THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THE EITEMS SO THEY CAN BE TAUGHT A LESSON!!!! Sorry for your loss, i know your pain, but all my eitems have been stolen on private land.

Why are they on private property?
no but by not using them they are essentially banning anyone else from hunting that tree/spot. After not being used for a certain anmount of time they should be considered abandoned. And delt with accordingly. You wouldn't park your car in a WMA lot and expect it not to get towed after a few months. I know one of these guys is from out of state and am expecting stand no 2 to be his friends. just my 2cents they should use them or remove them.:(

I could never imagine stealing stuff like that... I know the location of a ton of crap people leave all over the areas I hunt. I never see anyone using it (all but once). It was be EASY to take and IMPOSSIBLE for me to live with myself knowing I put someone out for my pleasure.

These people were brought up the wrong way. period. hope they don't have kids cause they are gonna teach them the same broken values. Such a shame but this is life...

Feel good in knowing your daughter will not be one of these people, especially now that she has experienced this first hand.

Bowman, i was kidding abou the crap. But it did tick me off enough to make me think of doing that.
It just ticks me off that most of the really heavy "unbaited" trails are littered with stands that are not being hunted. I know that if I end up hunting next to one of these guys stands and they walk in and see me, they will give me doo doo. Also, what enjoyment is there sitting in a spot and worrying about someone coming to the stand that is locked in perminentaly. Maybe not in your case, but in my case, I have guys blocking me from enjoying my activites because they leave their stuff in the woods. Particularly areas and tree's that I setup and trimmed in advance of this years hunting season. I've had multiple people tell me to just move the persons stuff, but it's not mine and I am not touching it, just so you have an idea about what percentage of people would take stuff. Those people don't even hunt.
Maybe anti's took your stuff.
