Zone 9. No bait. Morris County.
Short story: Myself, Matty, and MikeP hunted Friday night. I shot the buck at 12 yards. We tracked the blood trail to private property in the dark. Called it a night. I could not sleep at all!
Saturday morning I dress in normal non-hunting clothes... knock on their door and ask for permission to find/get my dead deer in the woods behind their house/horse farm. The horse owning woman said yes!!! (I already prepared myself for the big NO.)
So me and MikeP track the deer behind her house... sure enough... there he was.
Now in my family... if you can hang a ring on it... its a point. I will have to get RGS to determine if its an offical point (or not) for the NJH contest. Looks more than an inch if i eyeball it. Either way... great buck... 10 pointer with a split brow tine to make it an 11 pointer.
Thanks to Matty for the tracking help in the dark. Super huge thanks to MikeP for putting me on the buck... tracking the buck... dragging the buck... and checking in the buck (deer would not fit in my hyundai). MikeP's guide service! LOL
And I have to apologize to 230grainhollowpoint because I had to cancel our afternoon duck hunting plans.
