Since we've been told that this site is watched by our State Officals for IDEAS for the future of our Sport, let them take NOTICE TO THIS !

Hey New Jersey, the addition of Crossbows in New Jersey Archery seasons could be a BLESSING to the STATE coffers.

I've heard it quoted here by the Anti Crossbow crowd, that if Crossbows are allowed, up to 50,000 hunters may take to the field with them.

I really feel that this number (as with most of the anti Crossbower's figures) are inflated. So to be fair, lets do our figuring on, say 30,000 hunters with crossbowers.

Let's see what "NJ" see in revenue ?

Additional sales tax
Additional Bow Lic.
Additional Bow Permits
Additional Buck tags

Ok now let's start counting:

New equiptment - Crossbow and accessories, treestand, camo cloths, etc.

Say...........

$1500 X .07 (sales tax) X 30,000 = 3,150,000

Bow Lic. .....

$31.50 X 30,000 = $945,000

Bow Permit ....

$28 X 30,000 = $840,000

Extra Buck tag ....

$28 X 30,000 = $840,000

So let's see, the financially straped State of NJ. might be looking at ...

$3,150,00 in sales tax added to the General Fund

$2,625,000 Added to the F&W account(much needed)

That's a total of $5,775,000 in Revenue for the State of NJ, just for allowing Bowhunters to choose a Crossbow to hunt with.

So WAKE UP NJ !!!!!!

This could be a financial windfall !!

OOPS, Almost forgot the CROSSBOW PERMIT !

Say............

$28 X 30,000 = $840,000

That would bring the GRAND TOTAL up to:

$6,615,000

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did the State of NJ EVER have a chance to make a quick 6 mil, just by giving people a "CHOICE"

These figures may be disputed by the Anti Crossbowers, buy I dare them to deny, that the Addition of Crossbows into the Archery season, will be a money maker for the State of NJ.

We asked for less Bucks to be harvested......

They gave us Extra $$$ for buck tags. A $$$ maker !

So where do you think the State's mind set is ??

I've heard that the " Gov." is no longer receiving e-mails

So...........

I guess I'll have to send it by reg. mail.
With copies to....

All F&G Council members
NJ State Treasurer

But I could e-mail this, notice of financial "WINDFALL", to all our State Legislators since the might be interested in such financial + for our State.

Anyone know who's on the NJ State BUDGET committee ?

They really might want to hear this!!

Let's not forget the Additional Pittman-Robertson funds (which are archery $$$$ higher rate)....

Imagine that! All those state $$$ PLUS the Federal P-R funds! (on all tackle sold PLUS 'matching funds" on tags sold etc.) WOW!

Looks like this crossbow deal is the one thing on the planet with no down side!
Too bad this state seems to think that spending money is the way to get out of debt.

Where is the cry to put them in the winter bow,Turkey and ML seasons? This could be a WIN WIN for all even oughnut shop owners.

Where is the cry to put them in the winter bow,Turkey and ML seasons?
Where is the "cry" to do the same with compounds???

Archery hunting is archery hunting, not too hard to comprehend, OR why the supporters want an archery weapon legal with ALL the rest of them.

Add to that there is NO sound or scientific reason(s) to exclude crossbows when all other archery tackle is already legal, well there just is NO reason to want what you'd suggest, any more than anyone would fight to push compounds into those time frames.

WHY the "cry" to treat crossbow hunters like "second class archery hunters?"
What have crossbow hunters EVER did to any of you guys? WHY do YOU care how or with what other fellow archery hunters use to hunt with? WHY can't you accept their choices and welcome crossbow hunters side by side with ALL other archery hunters?

Why do you ignore the data that proves that crossbows and compounds have the same success and harvest rates but "think" one belongs in YOUR season and the other one doesn't?

Why do you ignore the data that shows where legal for the entire archery season still ONLY about one in FIVE archery kills are crossbow FOUR of FIVE are other forms of archery used. Why the unfounded FEAR of a simple choice made by your fellow archery hunters?

Why not admit, the weapon does not "Make or Define" the hunter....Why do some of you insist that crossbows hunters are "slobs and lazy" etc.etc. bad for OUR image and not true at all, because once again the weapon can't define the hunters.

Why is the "cry" about all of that not going out and loudly?

Hey, aceoky,

This is the "Financial" page on Crossbows.

Don't be hijackin' my thread with your facts and figures on Crossbows.
It's obvious that those FACTS are falling on DEAF ears.

Hence this thread.

Just remember the old saying:

"MONEY TALKS, BULLSH*T WALKS"

Hey NJ, we're talkin' REAL $$$$$ here !!

Real, in the bank, make the budget look good,

MONEY !!

Sorry didn't mean to hijack it, I agree there seems to be "tons" of money just waiting for the crossbow to make it happen!![up]

After doing a great deal of research on Georgia, I think those in charge in NJ will be VERY interested to know that after Georgia included the crossbow into archery season they had a NET INCREASE of 9,651 NEW (that had NEVER hunted Ga before at all) HUNTERS!

Almost Ten Thousand NEW hunters were added in only a couple short years in GA!

That's some serious $$$ to be thought about!

[up]

Then within the next 2 years proceeded to LOSE a whopping 65,927! (LOL)

Gee that sound like good "turn around" on the crossbow investment! HA HA HA.[hihi]

Well, look at the bright side.... Im sure the manufacturers made out like bandits!:D

Damn, Paul, you are my HERO!!![smoke]

Converting JB is just shy of an act of God, and YOU did it!!![smirk]

I am going to recommend you to the Diocese for Sainthood....You have plenty of witnesses to this miracle!!![up]

And to think that you achieved this without weopons of mass destruction and Allah.

I hope that once you are declared a Saint that you will receive at least 10 virgins for this act!!![rofl][rofl][rofl]

You da man!!!![up]

Too bad that you have to be dead to be considered for Sainthood, but I'll still remember this miraculous act in 30 - 40 years when you "expire" and ascend to the great crossbow hunting lands in the heavens where there are plenty of deer and no antis!!!![smirk][rofl]

FYI - Here's the canonization process:

The process begins at the diocesan level, with the bishop giving permission to open an investigation into the virtues of the person who is thought to have been a saint. This investigation may open no sooner than five years after the death of the person being investigated. However, the pope has the authority to waive this waiting period, as was done for Mother Teresa by Pope John Paul II and for John Paul II himself by his immediate successor, Benedict XVI. When sufficient information has been gathered, the subject of the investigation is called "Servant of God", and the process is transferred to the Roman Curia—the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints—where it is assigned a postulator, whose task is to gather all information about the life of the Servant of God. When enough information has been gathered, the congregation will recommend to the pope that he make a proclamation of the Servant of God's heroic virtue, which entitles him or her to receive the title "Venerable". A Venerable has as of yet no feast day, but prayer cards may be printed to encourage the faithful to pray for a miracle wrought by his or her intercession.

The next step depends on whether the Venerable is a martyr. For a martyr, the pope has only to make a declaration of martyrdom, which then allows beatification, yielding the title "Blessed" and a feast day in the Blessed's home diocese and perhaps some other local calendars. If the Venerable was not a martyr, it must be proven that a miracle has taken place by his or her intercession. Today, these miracles are almost always miraculous cures, as these are the easiest to establish based on the Roman Catholic Church's requirements for a "miracle." (The patient was sick, there was no known cure for the ailment, prayers were directed to the Venerable, the patient was cured, and doctors cannot explain it.)

To pass from Blessed to Saint, one (more) miracle is necessary. A saint's feast day is considered universal, and may be celebrated anywhere within the Roman Catholic Church, although it may or may not appear on the general calendar.

In the case of persons that common usage has called saints from "time immemorial" (in practice, since before 1500 or so), the Church may carry out a "confirmation of cultus", which is much simpler. For example, Saint Hermann Joseph had his veneration confirmed by Pope John Paul II.

In the case of the Eastern Catholic Churches, individual churches sui juris retain, in theory, the right to glorify (see next section on Eastern Orthodox practice) saints for their own jurisdictions, though this has rarely happened in practice.

Contrary to what is sometimes reported in the popular press, a declaration of sainthood is not an "ex cathedra" pronouncement of the Pope, and as such, is not an infallible statement according to Roman Catholic doctrine, since such infallibility only "extends as far as the deposit of divine Revelation itself." However, the canonizations of saints are dogmatic facts, that is, truths connected to revelation by historical necessity and which are to be held definitively, but which are not able to be declared as divinely revealed.

The decline in GA was from gun and ML hunters (reason UNKNOWN) NOT from bow or crossbow hunters which increased or remained stable overall...

A drop in Gun/ml hunters is NOT an archery issue, thus it can't be connected to crossbows OR if it is, it's just as likely to be because of traditional archers.ALSO one season of decline (NOT two as someone stated ) doesn't mean it's a "trend" while FOUR years of increases (of five) IS certainly a positive.

$6,615,000

Holly Hannah, That is a ton of Doe Ray Me... [hihi]

Maybe you should delete this thread Paul. I think if the state does see it they might actually entertain the thought and let crossbows into the action. You know that would be bad!!! They will take all our deer and the traditional archers wil have nothing to shoot.

Bad Paul! Real Bad!!!! [down]

...I guess I better do my part to prevent that then huh?:D

From the time crossbows were legalized in Georgia until 2005/06 season (last posted on dnr website) They went from 111,682 hunters in archery down to 81,050!! In two years time!!

I wouldnt exactly call that "stable" ace! (LOL)

A loss of 30,000+ archery hunters. A TOTAL loss of 66,000!

Thats a lot of LOST DOE-RAY-ME! :D
