So its Gonna cost us $56.00 To Hunt Extended WOW!![confused]Maybe with the Extra Money they could Fix the Archery Range in Assunpink WMA Still not Fixed from last year [down][down]
There's one big piece to this that you have completely forgotten. There's absolutely no guarantee that you'll shoot, let alone see a big buck. So it doesn't matter what you're comparing this to.$56.00 = hotzitotzi dinner for two or home made venison dinner for 30 your choice.
Thats why they call it hunting bud...ya never know whats going to happen. There's one big piece to this that you have completely forgotten. There's absolutely no guarantee that you'll shoot, let alone see a big buck. So it doesn't matter what you're comparing this to.
David
Maybe not so WOW when you consider that $56.00 is only about 2/3rds a tank of gas for my truck. [sad] That 2/3rds tank will last about 2 or 3 days, the permit is good for a little longer. So its Gonna cost us $56.00 To Hunt Extended WOW!!
David, buying the permit is not buying the buck...you are buying the opportunity to hunt the buck. What you do with that opportunity is up to you. Many guys will buy that permit and let a bunch of small bucks pass, so it isn't just about getting a buck for your permit, it's about getting much more, at least in my opinion. I do it for the quality time afield...if that quality is negatively impacted, then I may not buy the permits any longer and find something else to do.There's one big piece to this that you have completely forgotten. There's absolutely no guarantee that you'll shoot, let alone see a big buck.
You're right, JB put it in perspecitive, 28$ isn't a lot to pay for a hunting opportunity. But mulitiply that by 1000000 tags sold and you see the winfall for the state that pisses me and so many others off.Costs alot of $$$ and we NJ hunters get treated like a bunch of dogs from our crappy government.
Maybe I've misread the code but wouldn't it be $28 per buck tag PER zone? So if you have 3 different zones you hunt, you'll have to spend $84 ($28 x 3) to get a buck. And to me, this is ALOT of extra $$$ to pay for a hunting opportunity. You're right, JB put it in perspecitive, 28$ isn't a lot to pay for a hunting opportunity.
I thought it was the opposite. Maybe someone here can clarify it.I thought it was $28 per tag to be used in whatever zone you want... but maybe I'm wrong.
El Jefe - thanks for the clarification. That's definitely alot better than I thought it was.So if you hunt lets say 8-10-11 zone the one buck tag is good for any one of those zones.
One buck tag which is good statewide. You have to buy the doe tag first, and one for each zone you want. Then you buy one buck tag which is good anywhere you have a doe tag.Maybe I've misread the code but wouldn't it be $28 per buck tag PER zone? So if you have 3 different zones you hunt, you'll have to spend $84 ($28 x 3) to get a buck. And to me, this is ALOT of extra $$$ to pay for a hunting opportunity.
YesHowever, if I'm reading things right, you will need to buy a separate buck tag for each season (permit bow, muzzy, permit shotgun).
So that adds up to an extra $84 per year more than you would normally spend.Since some here make ALOT more $ than others here doesn't mean we're ALL happy about it-I know I'm not happy about it.Last I checked money doesn't grow on trees. [down]you will need to buy a separate buck tag for each season (permit bow, muzzy, permit shotgun).
Money is money and it all adds up. That is why I probably will buy a buck tag for permit bow, when you can really try and lure in a buck, but not for the other seasons (I don't hunt muzzy in NJ, which helps the decision). Yes, Murphy's Law is out there, but it just doesn't matter that much to me. In sane states, you usually only get one or two buck tags for the whole year. What if you tag out and then see a monster? We are a little spoiled here with all these buck tags floating around. So that adds up to an extra $84 per year more than you would normally spend.Since some here make ALOT more $ than others here doesn't mean we're ALL happy about it-I know I'm not happy about it.Last I checked money doesn't grow on trees.
