Purchased a chronograph from CHRONY. Worse mistake and purchase ever!
First, the hole where the tripod attaches was not tapped all the way through. Had to put a lock washer on there in order to keep it from wobbling on the stand.
Second, one of the support arms for the plastic shade was missing.
Third, the chronograph CONSTANTLY displayed error 8. Tried to correct. Changed FRESH batteries 3 or 4 times but to no avail.
Fourth, it will not register the correct speeds. You can't tell me that a plus "P" 38 special is only going 525 fps. The fps range anywhere from 1025 to 760 to 525. We have tried a million different variations with the shades on or off and cloudy and sunny days.
So anyway. I write an e-mail to CHRONY and explain the situation. Their reply is "IT is user problem".
I had to point out that the tripod hole and missing support arm was not user error. Also quoted verbatim from the manual ""F) Err 3 through Err 9 shows on screen; the exact number relates to internal codes, and is of no significance to the user."
I requested to give me a refund and let's part ways.
So here is the REAL good part!
I ship it back with everything that came with it. Now I paid for shipping both ways- to buy it and return it.
Now it is their product and they have it so send my refund, right?
NOPE! They can't find the item in their books or whatever.
I guess their book keeping is on par with their product.
So now they have my chronograph which I paid for and shipping BOTH ways and are stonewalling me about a refund.
Talk about an exercise in frustration!!
Anyway. does anyone have any recommendations for a decent chronograph?

I have an old Delta model chrony that I have used for arrows and pellet guns for the last 15 years or so
. As long as it has a fresh battery its good to go. Keep in mind with any chronograph, there is a sweet spot within the screen area. Its about 1/3rd of the way up from the unit on the one I have. I mark the screen legs with a piece of colored tape. if you keep all your shots within that area you will record consistent speeds.
