I've been using white hots for several years, in the long run, it works but its DIRTY! what's a clean burning powder that you guys use? I need a switch here.
When I say its dirty, I mean.. its DIRTY! like to the point after one single shot I have to do a complete cleaning of the barrel not just a swab and forget about trying to load it for a second shot without cleaning the barrel, it's practically impossible to get the bullet seated without using a tree as a solid brace to push against the ram rod.

you will have similar problems with pretty much all pellets. First question has to be: What gun? (and Breechplug)

have a look at blackhorn 209. if your muzzy can use it. sometimes you need a different plug. blackhorn 209 also needs hot primers like 209 shotgun cci magnumms. ive even had sucess using blackhorn in my caplocks using the special mag shot nipple you get off ebay. best thing is that it cleans like a regular gun with hoppes and you can shoot all days without hard to loading issues. the only issue i have with blackhorn is that i need to use fine wire or proper fit drill bit to keep the fire hole clean of carbon build up at cleaning time but i would always pop a cap with a new patch and rod down the barrel to check for clear patrh. the patch would have a nice ring to indicate clear firing path. also gets out any accesss oil or junk.

I say ditto on the 209 buckhorn or blackhorn or whatever it is! Burns pretty clean but VERY VERY pricey to me. Had a hard time finding it too. Cabela's was out but finally scored some at Shooters off the Parkway down around Lacey? Came to $50 with tax! Wow that hurt! Didn't kiss me either! But I noticed they were having a cigarette after I left. The 209 also has a website which gives approximate FPS/velocity.
AS A NOTE: Be sure you take note on whether you are loading in GRAINS/WEIGHT or VOLUME! There is a difference.
