Some of you guys crack me up. The thread asks "Now What for the NRA". As soon as someone states facts about the question, if it's not to your liking, you go off viciously attacking the person. Reminds me of the line in the movie "A Few Good Men", "you can't handle the truth". LOL That's very childish don't you think? If you just want to hear BS and fall in line then you should not be on a forum. So finally, in answer to the thread, which people avoid responding to because it's easier to call people names because it makes them feel strong, the NRA has only about 30% of Hunters in the country as members. Based on their claim that they have 5 million members (which is probably inflated) and the fact that there are approx 16 million hunters, that's piss poor membership. So, one thing I can derive from this is that the MAJORITY of hunters DON'T agree with the NRA. It may be tough for you to swallow. Anyway, call all the names you want. But you have to pull your heads out of your butts to do it once in a while. Well anyway, here is a clip from the movie. Enjoy. Amen.

It's not that they disagree with the NRA (NRA polls members and non-members in internal research) it's that hunters in general are a bunch of cheap bastards and would rather spend $1000 on a new shotgun than $35 to keep the right to own it. Unless you are actively taking something away, apathetic gun owners will not lay out a dime. It's why NRA membership rises when gun grabbers are in the Whitehouse.

bet the low hunter membership if its true is only due because of the weapons used in hunting. if your a duck hunter or few one week a year deer hunter handguns and AR type guns with 30 round magazines arent much on there radar so there not gonna spend on a membership. of course we all know its a bigger picture but when i talk to hunters in my neck of the woods they could care less if it wont affect what they use.

It's really sad that the NRA only has 5 million members when the number of legal gun owners is much more than that. I've been a member for years and became a life member right after the Newtown tragedy, but since I value the 2nd amendment more than what it cost to be a member, I also donate an additional $500/yr. Not saying that everyone should go above and beyond but $35/yr to join isn't that much when you consider what a few boxes of ammo cost.

I also believe that every gun range and dealer should insist on proof of current membership before rendering any services. Same goes for private sales of guns in NJ, ask for proof of membership in addition to the regular paperwork. This will be my policy going forward.

I'm an Endowment member, support them as much as I possibly can, but I'm on a fixed income.

1. Do these companies donate monies to the NRA or just discounts to members?

2. How many of you use NRA discounts when flying, renting, buying whatever? I know I forget, and really don't care about the big box discounts, I'd just as soon give my money to a reputable mom and pop.

3. Why does the NRA only have 5 million members out of a possibility of 75 million? Could it be alot of folks see the NRA as another money maker for the top dogs of the NRA? Do they see it as another AARP, a sales arm for all kind of other business's. Or they hate getting phone calls for more donations. I changed my number so as not to get calls from them.

4. NRA wants to support business's tell them to quit buying imported stuff that they sell at GAO show in Harrisburg, Shot show, and any place they put up a booth. They'd get more members at $10 a year, than $35. Most of you live in NJ and $35 isn't alot of money. But to the people in the midwest, southern states, etc $35 is a hunk of change.

Now that I've said all that I SUPPORT THE NRA in most of their endeavours.

Maybe you better go back and read your original reply A** HOLE!, yep, feeling strong!

Hillary lost like 18 months ago....yesterday the PRESIDENT you voted for (judging by comments) said he believes guns should just be taken away from people without due process....

Sounds like a plan!

Man must be hard right now: do you support the NRA or the President?

He also said, "I like taking guns away early. Take the guns first, go through due process second." This is clearly a non-starter not only with Republicans, but with anyone who believes in constitutional protections. You can watch the video without relying on any outside commentary. He said some very provocative things, many of which are outside of conservative orthodoxy. But then again, he's only been a Republican for like 2 years so he is still getting up to speed on the platform.
