slug gun or muzzy?

I gave up everything but muzzys a few years back. I still have centerfires and shell shotguns, I just don't hunt them anymore

like shotguns muzzy's pricing goes along with quality and how far out you are looking to take deer. The Remington 700 Muzzy will be just as accurate as that Savage 220. However it will take more work to get it there, and as we all know weather especially rain can make life more difficult. Then you have the issue of unloading it if not fired and reloading if you had a less than desirable shot!

If you want to take the easier road, then the shotgun is for you. If you don't hunt often then you might want the Muzzy. its all personal preference.

To me it's a no brainer. You have up to three shots with a slug gun. You don't have as many things that can go wrong. A M/L can give you a little more distance but to me that does not outweigh it's disadvantages. I use a M/L during the M/L season only. Prefer my slug gun for all other firearms seasons.

I think the exact opposite. You have one shot, so you pick your shots better, or dont take a questionable shot. I see no disadvantage at all with a muzzy. I use a muzzy every chance I get, its either that or bow for me. Something about muzzleloaders just does it for me, even at the range 98% of the time Im shooting a front stuffer.

I have and enjoy using both. Hunted a few times with Southampton outfitters in Va, and in that particular zone they don't allow ML's during gun season only shotgun. First time ever coming across regs like that.

The reason I ask is I hunt zone 18. Its 6 day which I hunt and 3 days of permit doe which I don't hunt because I take a doe or two during bow. Also because I refuse to pay for a permit for three days. I hunt muzzy season also. So I would be buying the slug gun for just the 6 day season. I guess maybe I'm looking for a reason or someone to tell me I need another gun also lol
