does anyone know if it is possible to pre apply for my fid card so i can have it for my 18th birthday or do i have to wait until i turn 18? also are there any restrictions because ill only be a senior in hs? thanks

I did 2 months before my 18th, making a footnote on the application stating that I will be of legal age by the time I pick it up. It was ready a week before and I picked it up the morning of my 18th b-day.:p
I went out that very evening and bought a new remington 870. That was 16 years ago so,I dont know how things have changed, but it doesn't hurt to try.

i guess the best thing to do would be to go down to my local pd and ask

At the time ,we had one of the coolest chiefs this township probably ever had. He's long since passed on. It all boils down to if they want to break your balls or not, so it depends on the town.

its milltown i know all of the cops so hopefully that will help

It doesnt hurt to use an officer as one of your references either.
In my hometown when I applied a long time ago, local police officers were not allowed to be used as a personal reference. My application was returned to me when I used my old friend who was a local cop, and I had to put down a different reference.

Strange.

how do they shoot, any problems? i have a flues model that ive used once and loved it

never had a problem with any of my Ithacas. In the last few years the company has been up/down, they still make a good deer shotgun, or you can buy yourself a used Ithaca

The Springfield XD's are really nice guns. I don't know how much you've handled the XD's, but even the .45's have a different feel than the Glocks. I like them, but I don't have really large hands.

Caso's in Jersey City often has a large stock of different XD's (I believe that the JCPD is moving up to a .45 XD for their service weapon)

If your in the market for anytype of firearm get in contact with GunnyFern, he will give you the best price he can, and if he can't he will tell you straight up.....The shop is located in Fairview on Anderson Ave., Mike's Gun Shop

raycapp,

FYI- State law restricts selling or giving handguns to juveniles under 21, and other firearms to juveniles under 18, except for supervised loans of firearms or for limited lawful activities (such as hunting).

I dont think you can get a purchase permit for a pistol yet. But I would apply for the FID now and tell them your plan to have it after your 18th bday.

BTW, I grew up in Milltown and got my FID there when I hit 18 too.

Good luck...
