Heres the story behind my Turkey.
I hunted about 150 yards from the blind I hunted last week. I saw a few hens last week walking the edge of a ridge and thought I should move to that area.
I got set up at 5:15. At 5:30 a bird starts gobbling about 150 yards away. He gobbled non stop till 6 AM. At 7 I have a hen come in from my left on the bottom of the ridge . He sticks around for about 10 minutes then continues into the field below.
At 7:30 I have another hen come in from the right on the top of the ridge . She is nervous and withing 3 yards of my tree behind me. After about 15 minutes she walks off.
At 8:15 I did some more calling and 10 minutes later I have 5 birds heading my way, 2 jakes 2 hens and my Gobbler. The hens and the jake walk by at 20 yards but the Gobbler is taking the lower trail. I was able to reach my call and cluck a few times. Then he turns and heads up hill and starts to follow the other birds. When he's 35 yards I shoot.
He starts running towards a thicket. And I run after him. I see him flooping around in the thicket so I decide to circle around and sneak up on him.
I get to about 20 yards from where I last saw him and I see movement about 15 feet in front of me. I get the gun ready and its a Black bear. I thought oh crap, I hope he doesn't have my Turkey. He hears me and runs like hell.
I found the bird about 15 yards ahead.
