Yes I am saying you can walk down a road with a loaded gun as long as not within a safety zone. Take one step off that road and you are clear to shoot.
Well I just called DFW and spoke to a woman officer in the Clinton Law enforcement office. She vehemently said that you cannot have a loaded firearm or a knocked arrow while standing in the roadway. I asked multiple times and re-worded mulitple ways. She sited me NJ State Statute 23:4-16c which states
c.No person shall, for the purpose of hunting, taking or killing any wildlife, cast an arrow or discharge any firearm from or across any State, county, municipal, or publicly travelled road or highway.
In bubblehead's defense, I stated, "it does not state that you have to unload the firearm", to which she replied, "Yes, you need to be unloaded because you are not allowed to shoot from the road and therefore need to be unloaded" She wasn't wishy washy about this answer either, it was stated very sternly, to me, that you need to be unloaded before stepping onto a roadway.
While I understand bubblehead's interpretation, of this law, it is a little vague, needless to say I'll be unloading each and everytime I cross a roadway...................
