With a heavy heart, my friend told me that Division Biologist Dan Roberts passed away this week. I went to Rutgers with Dan and he was always a great guy. He was a dedicated division employee and would always respond scientifically, promptly, and with genuine interest to my questions I had about the state's deer herd. Dan leaves behind his wife and many family members and friends. He will be missed and the Division has now recently lost 2 of their own, as CO Mike Szalay passed away a few wks ago. The Division is like a big family, great people, dedicated to the resources, ....take a moment to send a prayer their way.

DANIEL ROBERTS Obituary - Hamilton, NJ | The Times, Trenton,

RIP Dan, it was nice knowing you, I'm shocked!

I'm shocked. I spoke with Dan right after Christmas about aging my son Kevin's buck from Maine for him. We had a very nice conversation and planned on getting together in a couple of weeks to examine the jaw bones and teeth.
My condolences to his family. RIP Dan

Dan was a great guy. Helped us out immensely with getting our town ordinances changed for hunting and attended many of our Wildlife Committee meetings and Township meetings. He spoke with my wife many times about helping her organization with open space preservation. I saddened to hear this news, way too young and so much more to offer. We will surely miss you Dan and thank you for all you have done.
