Boat license issue at DMV

Yesterday i went to DMV to renew my Drivers License.
I have had my boating license since i was 14. They asked me for my boating certificate[confused]since i could not provide them with the certificate they told me that i cant renew my license with the boat operator on it. i refered back to every time i renew my license i have had the boat on it. i had 2 old licenses which also had the boat on them they said that did not matter. its in there system that i have a boat license and i still was unable to get it with the boat.I think that's bull sh@!#. gotta love NJ[hihi] Now i have to take the boat class cause i have no idea where my cert is.

So may sure you also bring you cert with you when you go to renew your License!!!

NJ is a giant Beaurocracy! And it is getting worse by the minute!

Make sure you have the certificate with you when you operate the boat also. they are going to start checking with more random stops from everything I have been told.

The class is not a big deal, take the one day or the two night class. More of B.S. session then anything, open book test at the end, eveyone passes. They give you a temporarry note that says you attended and passed.

I see some of the fishing tournements are now asking to see your boaters certificate as well if you plan on entering with a boat.

This is why I am waiting until I get it to use the boat even thought they renewed my license. I can see it now,"honey I got a big fat ticket because I had to go fishing!" she would love that extra expense...

Some of my friends took the class last year and they waited almost 9months for them to get it back!!

That happened too. I've been operating a boat for years and felt like I wasted a saturday. I finished the test and went to the bathroom, when I came back, everyone at my table was looking at my paper... and the instructor was ok with it!!! What a joke. The only one I got wrong was a jetski question.

in my town they run them twice a year at the high school you pay 25 to the board of ed then 45 at the 1st class its run by the power squadron and you will actully lean something they taught how to plot and use a chart its nice to know you can get to a desination with just a chart and compass
