There were several issues that the four of us could have started calling them out on, but we were very professional on the way we handled it. During the Q&A session at the end, Kris brought up some issues that we disagreed on and points were made. When Kris asked if she or any of the other members of the Bear group were ever arrested. she answered honestly and Yes we have and i am sure you already know that,[hihi][hihi]. i think she was thinking that it was going to get nasty after that comment.

Most of the people who attended did stick around after to here what our comment and concerns, and i think that were put some ?marks in theminds of some posssible anti"s

Good job Kris

I say, GOOD JOB [up]to you guys for at least showing up in the face of the enemy [up][up]
I would imagine it had to be like the only sane people standing in the middle of a insane-asylum.

For what its worth, I'm an archer first and foremost, and Im a bowhunter! Im not into politics, I was never the captain of a debate team, nor a lawyer. I get sick of all of this nonsense. We debate the antis, we debate the f&g council, the division, each other. I couldn't care less anymore. I'm tired of volunteering to help people, I'm tired of all the complaining and infighting. Im tired of it all. All I really want to do, is shoot my bow, go bowhunting and forget about everyone else.

So perhaps I should crawl back under the rock I came from beneath and leave the fighting for our sport up to the ones with superior intelligence.

Matty, don't give up. You're smart enough to get your point across in a lucid manner. Don't sell yourself short.

The freedom to hunt is not worth defending?

The part of our American heritage, the part of our United States history that is ingrained in us from our fore fathers is not worth fighting for?

Our governor Corzine says, "How can I use New Jersey to my benefit?" As hunters and anglers we have to say, "How can I make this state better for all of us?"

We all have to take up arms against the people that want us destroyed. We cannot let our hunting privlages be wrested from us.

None of us can stand idly by, looking to the other man to fight for the cause we both share.

I for one cannot let others do the work for me, then sit down and enjoy the fruit of their labor. We all have a responsibility.

We all cannot be generals in this battle, but every single one of us must be heard.

For what it is worth, I think you guys did a great job and starting an argument or disrupting the presentation would have been counter-productive. Thanks for the pictures and info. [up]

While I'm all for fighting, there is a time and a place. For the residents of Jefferson Twp., they have to live in the teeth of this current NJDEP policy. Some are probably worried and all they can really do at the moment is use the can and put away the bird feeder. That is the position they are placed in and if BEAR can tell them how to keep bears away then it can help. I hope Jefferson has scheduled several groups to come in for education.

However, reading your play by play, I have to cringe when bears are portrayed as friendly or lovable. I think they are beautiful animals, but I would never get close enough to kiss one. This kind of talk is insane. I don't think many people have died in whitetail attacks, but I wouldn't try to kiss one of them either. These are all wild animals that are best left alone. It sounds like you guys made that point, which was probably the most important counter-point to make that night.

Matty

You express yourself well. I know your agenda was to attend the bear hunt - as I mentioned, thanks for representing all of us.

The important thing is that you went and I by no means want to take away from your commitment. My point is simply a side issue - but one I feel strongly about.

We will not be successful by appearing "nice" to fanatics that are wrestling control of a science based method of managing our natural resources and portraying hunters in short, ugly terms in the process.

They are not our friends, they don't want to be our friends, and they are doing everything in their power to undermine hunting. From a political standpoint they have overwhelming support and they have legislation pending that will seriously erode our ability to hunt - even eliminate it. I am not defending hunting for the sake of hunting - I am defending hunting because it is an an effective arbitrator of the pressures put on our environment (ecology) as animals and humans strive to coexist.

This is not the interest of those in the meeting you attended or their ilk. There priority is to end hunting because it is "killing" and hunting is "bad" and animals have "feelings."

The prioity should be to express what we know to be right and educate others during the process. This should be our main concern and it can be done in a respectful manner without being patronizing during the process.

That's the point I'm trying to make.

Hey! Thats my line. I'll sue for copyright infringement.
She is a nice lady. I told her that.
Yes sir, that what sucks them in and it looks like she's working on you. She's a nice lady that meddles in other peoples business and tells lies about bears and bear hunting to honest people seeking truthful information.

The bear thing is going in circles. Most people don't hunt or see bears and don't give a sh-t one way or another. But based on what I've seen in West Milford and what I hear in general, as the bear population increases and more people encounter bears the support for a bear hunt increases. As most of us alredy know, probably even Governor Wino, when the attack happens people will want every bear dead. The bears are doing their own bear hunt promotion.

So let the bears live free and muliply and ooo's and xxx's to Janet Pizar.........tick, tick, tick......

I know a lot of nice people that are mentally whacked! Her and her "bear friends" should all move to disney world if they wanna keep livin in fantasy land!!! You should've brought a tape recorder with recording of that old Coca Cola commercial song from the 80's[I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony....] and played it everytime they started spewing anti-bullsh*t . Rush Limbaugh did that one day last year when hippie- liberal- douche-bag callers phoned in his show. It pissed them off to no end! It was so beautiful [hihi][hihi][hihi]!!!!

Don't feel bad about it either! This is what happens to most guys that get involved. You try, try, try, but it just seems to never sink in with alot of people! Take some time off from the grind of arguing for the cause and just do some shooting and hunting. We all might gripe alittle but without the guys like you that want to give up some time and get involved we would have no sport in this state or any other for that matter.
