My friend and I will be out on some private property starting Monday that backs up to the other half Bear Swamp (behind the SP barracks). Does anyone know how hard hit that area gets? We will probably stay on private property to see what gets bumped out way, but if we see nothing I have a few areas I scouted back there I would like to check out, but don't want to start stepping on people's toes.

We also have permission letters for Retreat, but haven't had a chance to scout there yet. How packed does that get? First time hunting these preserves, had farms prior to this, but hoping that everyone isn't packed in there like the WMAs.

Thanks!

I feared that. I probably won't head down to Retreat until permit season.

Just sticking to the back of the private property is starting to sound better and better with how crazy 6 day is sounding. I went out for turkey near Ithaca NY and walked for days and never saw another person (plenty of turkey though). I know we pack them in here

That's a real shame, hopefully they won't give me a hard time. I used to go to a gun club out in chatsworth as a kid in scouts (used to spend a week bunking there and shooting each day), but haven't strongly considered joining one due to time commitment. Hopefully anybody I run into next week is pretty chill then.

The state owned piece you mentioned behind the Sussex barracks on price road gets pounded throughout bow season( I travel the road on a regular basis). It takes about three weeks until the deer start to move later and later in the evening. Like any state owned property during 6 day, expect to encounter people doing the same thing you are out there for.

Post your private piece tomorrow. Big time. You'll have plenty of hunters looking for "their dog" next week. I live near those pieces but always crowded and the couple people I've talked too have been real pricks like they owned. They win. We are our own worst enemy. I'll be waist deep in the swamps of Wharton.

I honestly wish I remember the name of the club. I loved going out there as a kid. Whole top floor was loaded eith wooden bunks. Had a big field out back with a trap house for shooting and a berm in thr back. My father couldn't recall either unfortunately. I remember we hiked from there to caranza or apple pie

It's posted and my friend and I will be sitting on two travel lanes for anything that is pushed our way.

If we strike out, my friend and u were discussing scouting Wharton

Those land trusts should be no driving properties..I think I'll lead a campaign to end that..sit with a bow sit with a gun that's it.. everyone in that whole piney area want to drive every inch of woods..I'm surprised they don't walk in to the local home depot and drive the indoor nursery.
